Next up in our mix series is our very good friend and collaborator from Copenhagen, @mamasnake - co-founder of the notorious Amniote Editions. In this mix they're showing their peerless and sublime palette, full of sleek techno, slithering psychdelia and full blooded grooves. Thrilling and primal soundscapes transffering into a kinetic energy bomb. Get ready for this 72 minutes seamless journey of soaring vitality.

"Hi world,
As you are listening to this, the people in Gaza are listening to the sound of genocide as the terror state of Israel carpet bombs hospitals, mosques, schools, refugee camps and other clear cut civilian targets while the elected leaders of the western world watch in silence.

Let it be known that in November 2023 when this mix came out more than 11.000 Palestinians including more than 4500 children were slaughtered by the fascist Israeli regime in the live streamed attacks on Gaza. At this point in time, it’s been more than a month of full-scale intentional genocide and documented war crimes and the western world has yet to condemn it and take action to push for ceasefire and negotiations to end the cycle of bloodshed due to the decade long violent occupation of Palestine.

To everyone following and listening to this, please speak up, read about and share what is happening, write your government representatives, attend protests, make noise and choose humanity and call for an end to this. Ceasefire is only the beginning; the violent occupation and apartheid must end. Enough is enough.

This mix is intended as some sort of despair release - at least this is what that sounded like on the day of recording for me. It’s giving “angry, but hopeful”. Use it to fuel the outrage you should be feeling and channel that into action.

A powerful fixture in the NYC scene for the past six years, she's cemented herself as one of the most distinctive techno DJs coming out of the U.S. in recent years. She has been at the forefront of a new generation of techno artists who find inspiration in the raw, innovative and rebellious spirit of old school techno. Her practice is a passionate dedication to archiving & activating timeless strains of raw and mechanized expression - fusing the new school of North American machine funk while harkening back to the innovation of Detroit, Chicago, & New York City DJs throughout history. A recent move to Berlin, a city that has held a crucial role in the evolution of techno, has provided her with the opportunity to further develop her craft by embracing the transcontinental connection that originally ignited the techno movement.  

All this plays out in Akua's blazing sets heard around the world - from exerting her renowned vigor behind the decks at hometown haunts like Basement and Public Records to unleashing landmark sets at Dekmantel, Draaimolen, & Berghain. Already seasoned on the European tour circuit, she continues to garner respect and delight from the most discerning of DJs & dancers alike through her fierce mixing finesse and constantly expanding repertoire of futureproof classics.

SPND20 Mixtape by ADLAS

Kasper Marott’s back with a second bout of electronic mischief for Bassiani Podcast 197. The Copenhagen based selector’s been around for many years and has only improved his knack for rhythms from one to the next, that and his singular aptitude for reading a room and playing to a crowd’s most primal instincts. His releases on Seilscheibenpfeiler, Kulør and his own imprint Axces every bit as catchy as his longer monologues behind decks. A little note on Axces: collective’s a closer descriptor, a group of friends and feedback loop designed to create all manner of wonderful sounds, visual artefacts and memorable parties that includes Marott’s buddies Alfredo92, Popmix, Søren Kinch, A. Waze and Martin Gilleshøj. Back to its co-founder: Marott’s a tried hand whose genre-bending flair is both austere and playful, straddling the binaries that often threaten to typecast aspiring DJs. His airy and saccharine disco a world away from the techno frenzy he manifests for this latest instalment. This is his closing set from the club floor back in December, nine hours of warped loops and general techno frenzy. Pulsating rave from this charismatic Danish phenom.

"I’ve been really enjoying playing ‘Bloom’ from up and coming Berlin producer Symbolism on PTHM recently. It’s an immersive and rolling techno track with a dark and dub’y atmosphere. You hear a bit of the dub sound coming back at the moment which is nice, but this is the way I like it over the more chord driven dryer sounding stuff. It’s quite versatile, intriguing and very adaptable for DJ’ing with."

Blue Hour... IsBurning #142

Mala Junta rabble rousers DJ Tool and D.Dan are up next for Zenaari Mix 010, but leave your biases at the door because this isn’t their usual high-speed mischief. In the vein of Zenaari’s hallmark off-kilter electronics the Berlin based pair are here instead to take you on a journey within. This one’s less for warehouse raving, more for solo spiritual contemplation: an invitation to probe the subconscious and transcend material experience. It’s a thorough exploration of their ambient predilections that range from featherlight textures to faded melodies that lilt like waves on a metaphysical shore. This liminal collage of gentle lullabies and acoustic murmurs is soft and a touch plaintive, but warm and loving all the same. Invoking everything from glitchy IDM to ballads that bend towards the strange and pineal, a technicolor dream sequence conjured up by this offbeat techno double-act.
