During summer lockdown 2021, it was forbidden to have dancing at parties. And so when exemplary north-east London record shop Hidden Sounds asked me to DJ at a sitting-down event, it seemed like the perfect workaround, and a wonderful excuse to explore some deep corners of my record collection. 
Think blankets, incense, rugs, chess, cushions, fungi, tea and 50 people laying around in a cosy space for a psychedelic, horizontal, evening listening session - pure bliss!

Following a 5-year hiatus from releasing solo material, 2022 proved to be an exceptional year for Swiss production talent @benkaczor, resulting in the release of not one, but two full length albums.

Trailblazing a sound similar to the Prince of Denmark - Ben Kaczor pricked ears for his deft approach for evoking emotion from the classic deep house formula. After reaching out to Carsten Jost and Lawrence, Ben was invited to remix a track from Jost's third album 'La Collectionneuse', which subsequently resulted in the release of his second album through Dial in November.

In our interview we learn more about the makings of 'Petrovo Uho' and his summer vacation in Croatia, which became the backbone of inspiration for his latest album. We also discuss his time spent in China, studio antics and what his personal highlights have been for the year. For the occasion Ben delivers a high velocity club mix featuring music from Marcelus, Karenn, Deadbeat & Sa Pa, Sten, plus unreleased gems.

For the second installment of our recording series, we welcome Dutch artist Luna Ludmila. Through this beautiful build up, Luna created a sonic journey starting very dreamy and hypnotic, and slowly going towards a melancholic direction. This showcases her downtempo work, she has been crafting in the past months using mainly Ableton & gears such as the Novation Supernova and Strymon Nightsky.

Madloch's Crossfade Sounds is pleased to welcome back Oldschool Dubtechno .Producer for their second appearance on the label, presenting the Book of Palaces EP. The project is the creative alliance of Siberian brothers Alexander Kotlov (X_FR) and ENERCUBE, co-founders of the influential PIRANHA SIBERIA DUB label and podcast channel. With a shared vision rooted in the landscapes of their homeland, the duo has cultivated a sound that fuses rugged atmospheres with meditative depth, embodying the philosophy of contemporary dub techno while retaining a timeless old-school spirit.

Following their 2024 debut Shadow Astrology EP, Oldschool Dubtechno .Producer now unveils four new originals, each carrying their signature balance of weight and subtlety. Opening with Epiphysis Cerebri and Prince of Angels, the duo establishes a framework of immersive grooves and shadowy textures, before venturing into Rahatiel Stargate, a track marked by expansive layers and hypnotic drift. Closing piece Sefer Hekhalot encapsulates the essence of the release, offering a spacious, contemplative journey that lingers long after its final tones fade.

With Book of Palaces, Oldschool Dubtechno .Producer continues to expand their narrative within the Crossfade catalogue, reaffirming their role as architects of the Siberian dub techno sound while offering a release that resonates equally on introspective and club-focused stages.
