Disaffected-Oh Dear [LSM Premiere]

After a successful launch in January this year, Nu KVLTURE is back with a second part of the Various Artists Compilation Series “VOL.2”.

40 Artists from all the cross the globe, nu- comeres and og's from the first release, stand together united in all things bass & breaks with BPM ranging from 100 to 170.

Expect even more flavours, with the most wanted dubplates who ended up in mixes by established artists such as LCY, A.Fruit, Sun People, Gremlinz and many others who played them from Boiler room to Rinse Fm. Artwork is once again done by talented Sofija Milosevic.

I suppose I was introduced to the Pet Shop at an early age. I was 9 years old and most of my music came from my auntie and her cassette collection. ‘Now That’s by What’s I Call Music 18’ was the tape on repeat, and ‘Hard’ was track no.17 ☺️

Over 30 years later, they are still going strong. Headlining this years Glasto, their set inspired me to do this mix. WIth SO many classes to choose from, lets hope I do them justice. Enjoy folks! x

The treats keep on coming as we approach the big day and the story behind Advent Day 24's exclusive from UK breaks producer Kwerk goes like this:

"In the latter half of 2020, the man like Prato released a belter of a breakbeat tune called "On Jupiter" on the mighty Diesel Recordings. The chunky beats, funky cuts, brass and horn sections instantly sucked Kwerk in and he was hooked. The tune then featured in many-a-Kwerk DJ set. Then, in early 2021, Diesel Recordings held a remix competition offering out the parts of “On Jupiter” to budding producers to mess with. Kwerk snagged the remix parts with one thing in mind; creating his own super-secret DJ set weapon whilst paying homage to the sterling original version. The resulting Kwerk ReWerk went on to do some serious damage in the Kwerkshop Radio Show and live gigs around the globe with only a select few DJs having access to the remix. That is, until now……….. 

Kwerk."

It's Advent Day 23, it's my birthday, and it's time to get the party started in style with this brand-new and exclusive Breakbeat mix from the Drumattic Twins!

Reaching out after our call out for content for this year's Advent calendar, Nick Slater kindly offered his services and after a proper dig through his music collection, he has turned out another epic mix for us to share with you all. I was lucky enough to receive the mix a couple of days ago and after rinsing it proper, all I can say is that my senses are on fire! Music from the best label on the planet, Finger Lickin' Records, is well-represented because as you all know, that has been the home of the Drumattic Twins for so many years, but there are lots of other forgotten-about treats from around the time of when FLR was in it's pomp. Nick told me he had a massive amount of fun putting this mix together and it can be heard, loud and very clear! Have a great one, party people!

It’s double or nothing with this sonic-boom-busting, minimal-breaks bruiser. You gonna boom, shake, shake, shake the room with Mr No Hands sub-laden reworking of the Poker Flat Recordings classic Chardronnet vs Afrilounge - Shake It. 

Now slightly less “minimal”, this overhaul was sampled from the original vinyl release. You can hear the crackles and pops caused by years of heavy rotation because it’s one of his all-time favourite tunes that's lived in his infamous Technics camo record box for over 15 years.

The original “Rumpy Pumpy” released in twenty-something-something on the Diverted Traffic label, was an experiment to see just how LOW could that BUZZIN’ SAW BASSLINE go. Turns out, pretty low down dirty as the sound system at Fabric will tell you. Spin forward to today, Mr No Hands has re-"pumped" this ridiculous little number. He’s thrown the old drum kit out the window while injecting a wholelotta extra Funk-Fuelled Party Mayhem into the mixdown.

For 2016, we thought we'd carry on with the legends theme and invite a couple of guys who I saw absolute smash it at this years Green Meadows Festival, to once again round off what has been another very enjoyable 25 days of music, these guys are, Utah Saints.

Tim and Jez have been there and pretty much done the lot. They've had a handful of top 10 releases, played around the world and they've supported some of the very biggest artists on the planet. We're super pleased they accepted our advent invitation and they've put together on hell of a party piece that features 12 of their very favourite tracks from 2016. If this mix wasn't already enough to liven up your Christmas day evening, we can spread further good news and announce that Utah Saints are heading back into the studio in 2017 and are planning on releasing a new batch of floor filling bangers of their own.

Advent Day 21: Lebrosk - LSM Downtempo Funk Mix

As the curtain comes down on Christmas and our advent calendar for another year, we've got time for one last showdown as we present you with a studio mix from our good friend Morphosis from Hong Kong Ping Pong for our final day. After lighting up Christmas day last year with a mix for us and after lighting up our screens constantly throughout the pandemic with one of his many live streams shows over on Twitch, we thought who better to close our festive advent giveaway this year.

Like all good mixes by Morphosis, you can expect to hear a myriad of genres and tempos that all merge together to create a listening experience you'll want to indulge in time and time again. Meaty midtempo beats, Hip Hop and Funky Breaks occupy the first half of the mix where things then step up intensity and tempo with Breaks and Bass bangers seeing us through to a lively ending.

We'd just like to take this moment to thank all of the participants in this year's advent calendar who have all kindly given us music to give to you for free in the hope that it makes these troubles times feel a little less stressful. Merry Christmas one and all!
