We've got a full on Acid House fest for advent day #22. It comes from Manchester's, Red Oktober, aka, Craig Whittaker and his mix that's a live recording of his set from the mighty Fortress stage at the very awesome Beat Herder festival this summer. Both Fifties and myself are huge fans of the producer and label owner behind today's first piece of music on advent day #23 and that man is, Alan Cross. As well as running the always amazing, Census Sound Recordings, you can also find him producing music of his own and chipping in with the odd remix on Census releases. Whether it's House or Breaks, Alan's sound has a real techy vibe about it which gives it a fuzzy, warm and mind opening feel. All that can be found in his exclusive tune for us 'Babylon On Fire', which is a truly breathtaking piece of Breakbeat and one we're sure will leave you opened mouthed and in awe of what you've just heard. If you followed last years LSM advent calendar, you'll know that we invited along the Breakbeat legends, Drumattic Twins, to brings us the beats to finish off our 25 days in style. For 2016, we thought we'd carry on with the legends theme and invite a couple of guys who I saw absolute smash it at this years Green Meadows Festival, to once again round off what has been another very enjoyable 25 days of music, these guys are, Utah Saints.

Tim and Jez have been there and pretty much done the lot. They've had a handful of top 10 releases, played around the world and they've supported some of the very biggest artists on the planet. We're super pleased they accepted our advent invitation and they've put together on hell of a party piece that features 12 of their very favourite tracks from 2016. If this mix wasn't already enough to liven up your Christmas day evening, we can spread further good news and announce that Utah Saints are heading back into the studio in 2017 and are planning on releasing a new batch of floor filling bangers of their own.

Advent Day 2016 #25 - Utah Saints - 12 Months / 12 Bangers of 2016 - Christmas Day Mix

Known as "The Godfather of Breaks" Rennie Pilgrem's contribution to the early Nuskool Breaks scene is outstanding and given this title is often considered responsible for the creation of the Nuskool Breaks genre. Before moving into breaks Rennie produced techno and acid house and was part of the influential rave group Rhythm Section along with Ellis Dee. Rennie is also the boss of Thursday Club Recordings aka TCR a label which he founded in 1993. TCR records was a major force in the Nuskool breaks scene. Now concentrating more on his talented art skills Rennie has stepped back from the dance scene and continues to produce some great works of art.

Utah Saints - May Day Beats 2017

Basically Tayo is a legend when it comes to the breakbeat scene.....

After paying his warm up dues as a drum and bass DJ alongside Fabio, Grooverider and Peshay, Tayo set up Friction with fellow members of the breakbeat elite, Adam Freeland and Rennie Pilgrem and watched the club and it’s residents become a focal point for the UK breakbeat sound.

With other residencies back in the day at Fabric, Bugged Out! and Big Beat Boutique to name a few and various appearances on the Kiss FM Breakbeat show Tayo made a name for himself as a DJ playing along side the likes of Carl Cox, Layo & Bushwacka, Hybrid, Lee Burridge and Craig Richards as well as the endless people he met while on his travels around the world.

After a 2 month stint in Australia playing various clubs and festivals Tayo put together the exclusive mix for Triple J Radio back in January 2004.

Blazing Swan this year was another fantastical journey of sound light and laughter! Here is my set from God Said No on Sunday morning sunrise.
It's such a joy to bring the pyramid from darkness into light and attempt to match a soundtrack to the beautiful sunrise over the salt lake.
A huge thanks to the God Said No crew and the Filth & Pleasure guys for having me back again to play this magical time slot. 
And nothing but gratitude, praise and awe at the legendary crew who stuck it out with me until well after the sun came up.
