This week we have one of the pioneers of the Dutch techno scene, Remy Unger. Since the start of his career at the legendary Club Roxy in Amsterdam he has always constantly delivered his signature hypnotic brand of techno.  He released on Gem Records twice before and now he is our guest on Episode 49 of Gem FM.

Recorded live at Mixmag's Brooklyn office for The Lab NYC with Charlotte De Witte.

Born out of a residency at Mixmag's The Lab NYC, Fun Day is the collaborative project from London's Funster @funsterdj and Brooklyn's Day Cart @daycartmusic.

After helping guide the underground scene in London with his Chunk raves where he hosted the likes of DJ Bone, Debonair and Head High, Funster recently relocated to the states and has become a regular part of DJ Bone's Homeless Homies event series and charity. Day Cart has been a key figure within Brooklyn's dance music community for nearly a decade. His Goonroom party series, co-founded with Wig-Wam, has been a consistent beacon for underground music, taking place at venues across the city including Good Room, Elsewhere, Output and Jupiter Disco. If you're a NYC-dweller, you'll have seen Day Cart around.

Now as Fun Day, Funster and Day Cart are expanding their offerings having already performed alongside talent such as Matthew Dear, Beautiful Swimmers, ItaloJohnson, Sam Divine, Joe Smooth, Marco Bailey, Charlotte de Witte and more.

Dutch rising star Mirella Kroes has been closely affeliated with BALANS for many years. She plays our events on regular basis, because well.. we are fans! It makes us happy that she is getting full recognition in Holland lately for her deep, hypnotic, dark techno sound. With gigs at Awakenings Festival, WTTF festival the future looks contrastingly bright. She delivered a fantastic deep mix for our series, enjoy!

Here's what she had to say to us:

1.What is your relationship with Balans?

I met Darko seven years ago (i think?) in Doornroosje. Over the last couple of years we have become really close friends.

2.What do you do to try and stay in balance? Any tips & secrets you  
would like to share with us night folks?

Juicing! Plus working out two times a week in a 60 degree cabin. I try to eat mostly organic and get a regular sleeping pattern during the week. 

3.About the podcast, can you tell us the story behind the mix?

There's not really a story, it's a mix of some new, old and in betweens. It's definitely a reflection of the more deeper side of things. 

4.What gear did you use to make the Balans podcast?

Two CDJ's and a A&H mixer.

5.What do you have in store for us (gigs/releases) the coming months?

Something i'm very excited about is my debut at Awakenings Festival and the opening spot at the techno area of Welcome to the Future Festival. I'm also really looking forward to Balans at the Melkweg 12th of july.
