Hard Shit  WIP *near complete

A very personal verse about my life struggles; with addiction, mental health, spirituality and purpose. Back story and lyrics below.

I was asked to write based on the chorus and a phone conversation. I executed immediately and made myself available to record. At the recording session, I was asked to be on the first verse and informed about an upcoming music video shoot. A few weeks later, I saw "behind the scenes" footage on social media from the music video, but never got so much as a call or text to invite me or to let me know I was removed from the song. 

When I confronted the individual, I was informed he "forgot" to invite me (no mention about being removed from the song) then went on to give me an insulting excuse about how I expect too much and he could never be a good enough brother in Christ or friend to me. I was more hurt and disappointed than anything. I didn't feel angry or feel the need to write another verse attacking or anything like that. Just a bummer that someone who played a major role in my "becoming Christian" would come at me like that, after I had to be the one to reach out to him just for the sake of clarifying what was even going on with the song.

I decided to release this final leak because yesterday was my 2 years clean. It has been a journey to say the least. I wrote and recorded this song very near the beginning of my clean time; that is how long I have held on to this record. The collaborating artist that asked me to feature never bothered to finish the song. Here it is for you all to stream and download as you please.

Got all these old behaviors that became second nature. Now I work on them and watch so-called friends become strangers. Some acquaintances I never thought I’d mesh with, ended up becoming a part of me; closer than family. As a thinker, even simple things grew deeper. Popping pills, frying, trying to hide it; still eager, for the next trip. Didn’t believe in a bigger picture, just wanted an exit; that I ended up finding in these scriptures. Indeed a potent mixture, in need of stable living. Not from anywhere. An old soul steadily roams. Readily arose, well acquainted, even if I’m locally unknown. Shifting time zones; my mind blown. Aim was never to be a GOAT, though if I reap what I sew, my harvest as an artist tops all these mainstream cropped clones. Then I fade to black, let these critics play their part. That RAYCE-ism on a track, doing it for the art.
