Darryl Ray Norris, Better known as his stage name Ray Fresh, is an independent rapper, songwriter, and entrepreneur from Boston Massachusetts. Ray’s musical journey began in New York City interning at Universal Music Group while attending college at LIU Brooklyn. During college Ray surrounded himself around hungry motivated individuals, some who would later on be well known in the music industry of today. During his time in the big apple fresh not only took a bite but sharpen his skills lyrically battling in cyphers throughout the grimy gritty boroughs of New York City. Fresh definitely made sure to hold on to connections made in New York but after a few years it was back to Boston. While in Boston, Ray’s musical ambitions continued to grow, aided by the everyday struggle, Ray begun perusing his first project. Which would later turn into his first official Mix Tape “The Ray Fresh Tape” which did well in the streets but had moderate digital success, due to a lack of social media presence. Since then Ray has established himself as a well know artist not only throughout Boston but the entire New England region. Ray started to showcase his brand by doing shows in NY which soon led to performing all throughout the New England states, opening up for big names like Lil Wayne, Styles P, Juvenile, Maino, and the Lox to name a few. As Ray’s confidence grew his style started to develop, he soon saw a loyal following begin to grow. Ray also started to get recognition from Hip hop blogs which led to doing interviews and pod cast which amplified his social media presence. Ray’s single off his first mix tape “Non Believer” produced by the legendary producer Just Blaze hit major radio both in Boston and in New York back in 2014. Ray established his own entertainment company in 2012 known as CityLyfe Music. Fresh has continued to grow as an artist he has been working on his second project called “Hoodie Season” slated to be released late first quarter 2018. The new project features upcoming artist like Jimmy Wopo and Hardo from Pittsburgh Pa, as well production from Nizzy J Beats. Nizzy aka Wallis Lane who has worked with everybody from Drake to Slum Village has defiantly provided some heat for Hoodie Season. With his upcoming project Ray is clearly speaking to a generation his platform is hip-hop and the message is simple. His attitude and work ethic reflect a mantra that says anything is possible if you just strive for it. Ray is living proof that raw talent and honesty can still prevail in an ailing music industry. Ray is expected to break out in 2018 with not just Hoodie Season but multiple projects and abundance of music videos preparing for release. Look for Ray Fresh to really showcase why he is Hip-Hop’s best kept secret and Boston’s most slept on Mc.
