Greetings, and welcome to my SoundCloud. As time allows, I'll add some recordings for you to check out. I've been in the biz since 1979. I've worked in both commercial recording and broadcast radio. A guy of old school, I learned analog. Digital is cool. I wouldn't say better, just less time consuming and a bit easier. My training is professional, not trial & error. You could say I'm one of those technical guys. I co-own a record label and studio in Myrtle Beach,SC. We also operate a live theater company and have ventured into motion picture productions. Over the years, I've had the opportunity to work with some great bands, and some super talented singers. Due to time, I only work on pet projects in the studio these days. When I'm not recording, you'll find me listening to great music of all genres on vintage stereo equipment! I collect as well. Yea, I'm an audiophile. You could say I'm in between a Bruce Botnick & Mutt Lange as an engineer. I am a perfectionist as a producer. I just don't record anything or just anybody. Great sound isn't cheap, and there is plenty cheap out there. I think the home studio market has unleashed some great talent. Guys that have the ear is a rarity. I learned a long time back that we recording engineers are a dime a dozen. You can't be a great engineer and a musician. Those are two separate arts. I also applaud those who do try to do something different in the way of digital workstations. Synths and all is great if the sound is authentic,but the art can only be mastered with a real band, not in a box. I think engineers these days spend more time experimenting rather than learning. Upgrading toys constantly is not always the answer. Great engineers can make anything sound great even on not so stellar equipment. I have to admit I enjoy producing. Shaping them is quite rewarding. One last thought, when you listen to my tracks plug your computer into a real stereo rather than built in speakers on a computer, and crank it up! Comments and questions are always welcome.
