Brandon Riley. Dedicated to musical expression, immersion,
technology, and innovation, we present to you CMND CTRL 002.
The CMND CTRL sound will focus mainly on the Techno and Tech House
related genres, and on this second release (CTRL002) we dive into a
darker, more tribal and hypnotic style of Techno.

King Snake lays the groundwork with its booming kick drum, seductive
percussion, and hypnotic synth overtones that continuously rise and fall
throughout the mix. A relentlessly driving track perfect for that late
night DJ session.

King Snake (Ray Kajioka Remix) Berlin based Techno wizard Ray Kajioka takes the reigns on this release’s remix duties and delivers a fast-paced take on the original mix. Ray’s production abilities are on full display with this remix as he rains down wild high hats and percussions
matched with a steady kick and well-timed synth stabs. A guaranteed
crowd pleaser.

The Passage brings a bit more of a dark and dreamy style mix to the
dancefloor with some well-placed percussion giving this track a
mysterious tribal techno vibe. Warm sounding sonic textures playout
through the mix, with a nice pulsing analogue synth hook driving the
main part of the track. Definitely a strong track to build up a crowd
with.

The Love Anthem remixes contains four strong, diverse and well rounded mixes from Lindsey Herbert, Ray Kajioka, Mike Derer and Gabriella Vergilov.

Lindsey Herbert opens the EP with a high energy dance floor cut that executes booming hypnotic grooves, high density synth, percussions and a peak time drive.

Ray Kajioka serves up a remix that sucks you into an intense cymbal driven rhythm that surprises with deep moody chords and well programmed vocals.

Mike Derer brings his unique sound of stripped down grooves that is minimal, yet effective and with catchy synth line that provides rhythm through-out the ride.

Gabriella Vergilov adds another interpretation that differs from her original track that was released on the Gradual Landscapes compilation in December 2020. Her Acid Bang remix is playful, stompy with a sultry acid line and her iconic vocals.

Another week, another great techno offering from Switzerland’s Organism, this time from Nicolas Bacher with remixes by Nikola Gala and Ray Kajioka. 

Nicolas Bacher is one of Austria’s foremost techno exports and has been now for a decade. In his time he has won plenty of awards, run his own club night series and has released tens of EPs on labels like Primate, Yo!, Titanium and many more. 

First cut ‘Impulse’ is a slick and fluid groove with thick metal stabs and a real sense of futuristic atmosphere. Subtle filters and background effects add purpose and depth to the track and it grows ever more funky as a result. German remixer Ray Kajioka has released on Kanzleramt Music, Rotation Records, and many more since the 90s and his version is a more stripped back and subtle track with killer sound design that places you right in the middle of a bleak techno landscape. 

Up next, ‘The Buzzard’ is an urgent, bleepy and raved-up bit of main room techno with incessant stabs, train track like percussion and shuffling drums that really wash you away in the moment. Label regular Nikola Gala remixes this one into a big, dark, groaning wall of sound that barrels on with fierce intonations and sweeps all in its wake aside. 

These are four more great cuts from a range of key techno tastemakers.

The Swiss sublabel @Caduceus-Empirical approaches it’s seventh release which has been supplied by home based Genevan artist @DJGarance called Alice & Suzy that also features Berlin’s Beroshima.

For this DT:Premiere we selected the stunning and melodic journey from @RayKajioka, who is a regular on Heiko Laux’s Kanzleramt and Cocoon. The remix of “Alice” oozes class from a deep vibe and weirdly wonderful audio tricks if you listen carefully. Perfect for a gloomy Monday, it has a surprisingly powerful undercurrent amidst the the dreamlike qualities.

As the dust finally begins to settle after the release of Pan-Pot's massive album 'The Other', it's time to unleash a collection of heavy hitting reworks from the best and brightest stars of todays techno elite. Through careful consideration and an acute attention to detail, we couldn't be more elated to confirm ten artists we know and love to contribute their unique vision to Second State's first ever remix package.

Kicking things off with a heavily twisted alteration of 'Attention' is Nicole Moudaber and it's a tangled, dark trek through dense acoustic layers of audible madness. Next up is the Hamburg duo

Extrawelt with their twist on 'Optimistic Grey' and they deliver a beautiful blend of emotion and groove they are synonymous for.

Following suit is another passionately romantic number from man of the hour, Stephan Bodzin, and his take feels like floating through a sea of clouds, resulting in a timeless classic to be a focal point in any set for years to come.

Next in line is Ray Kajioka's take on '808 Nirvana' and it's a cosmic ride, ripe with swirling atmospherics laid over big churning drums and rolling cymbals.

Following up on the second 12“ of this LP is a man who needs no introduction: Carl Cox. And in true Coxy fashion he turns 'Riot' into just that: a big room, tension building monster!

Broken Engine' is the next track to get worked over and Wigbert delivers a stunning mix of shimmering tones and growling bass resulting in a lush venture through a cosmic backdrop of flickering stars in deep space.

Joseph Capriati ensues with his vision of 'Fugitives' and he brilliantly keeps the vibe of the original yet adds his trademark big room flair to take it to another level of driving euphoria.

Enlisting the talents of Alan Fitzpatrick to remix one of the slower listening tracks on the album turned out to be magic. With his signature percussion, Fitzpatrick takes the parts and creates a dive deep into sultry smooth waters of seduction.

The first of our last two remixes, which are digital exclusives, come from Paul Ritch and he delivers a grinding rendition of 'Riot', expertly crafted for the more euphoric peak time occasions.

Last and certainly not least is a man on the rise, Kevin Knapp with his twist on his own collaboration with Pan-Pot: 'Get In'. An expertly crafted tech house jam exploding with energy and attitude perfect for any moment, day or night, indoors or out.

No matter the time or place, there is something here for everyone and we are truly fulfilled and honored to present this package of cutting edge artists to celebrate this landmark moment. We know you will enjoy!

<p>Taster Peter is back on phobiq and &#8220;White Light&#8221; is a synth-led monster featuring a bubbling bassline that will keep all heads down as it evolves through the proverbial tunnel. The aptly-titled &#8220;REX&#8221; is up next and effortlessly stomps away with commanding stabs constantly pushing forward, while disjointed chords and mangled vocal snippets intertwine with tasty nods to old-school productions. Ray Kajioka&#8217;s remix pulls the gears back quite a bit and opts for a much more dubby vibe, retaining some of the vocals and employing frantic claps to fill in the gaps.</p>

The journey continues… Victor Calderone and Nicole Moudaber’s creative collaborations develop from the DJ booth and studio as Victor makes his debut on Nicole’s MOOD. Following major outings on Intec and Drumcode in recent years, he returns with three more dynamic techno compositions tailored specifically for the later night deep mix sessions. And if that’s not enough, the package also includes an exceptional remix from Ray Kajioka.

‘Parallel’ instantly hits with dubby reflective synth insistency. But the deeper you dive, the more you realise how much groove the drums carry as they switch and skip along with unrelenting pressure. The groove is extended by one of Germany’s most respected longstanding pioneers Ray Kajioka who re-textures the riff with much more of a darker, grittier sound and thicker, grainier drums to incredible effect.  

Deeper we dive again for two more examples of Victor’s creative dexterity and sonic scope: “The Difference” is a rolling workout that ignites with a deep smouldering aesthetic before gradually adding layers of atmospheric pressure, percussive hypnosis and subtle cosmic touches while “Zenith” shows Calderone at his most cinematic… What begins as a classic foggy midnight graveyard stroll suddenly turns into something much more sparse, spiky and full suspense. 

A dramatic way to end a far-reaching, full-vision EP. The journey doesn’t stop here….

For those people with open minds and open ears, electronic music doesn’t really have borders - blurring the boundaries between house and techno is a given -creativity and experimentation without restrictions and expectations is what allows artists to make exceptional music that becomes timeless and treasured. Alex Niggemann’s AEON label is focused on conjuring up the spirit of classic and timeless music, updating it over time and creating new boundless possibilities for the future. For the label’s next dynamic release, Alex has selected 3 of his own favourite productions (that have never been remixed before) and selected 3 masterful artists to breathe a new life into them.

‘Divergent’ (AEON018) remains one of AEON’s biggest hits so far. Released in November 2015, Alex’s original version was a landmark voyage into the realms of melodic, deep techno, and there is no finer candidate to remix this classic track for the first time than Lucy. Italian-born and Berlin-based Luca Mortellaro (aka Lucy) is one of the Techno genre’s most exciting DJ/producers, and also founder of Stroboscopic Artefacts, one of modern Techno’s finest labels. Lucy and Alex’s friendship goes back almost a decade, when they collaborated on a series of releases together (a fact that is largely unknown), and whilst his interpretation of ‘Divergent’ is full of his trademark uniquely deep yet dancefloor-driven attitude, Lucy also has an inimitable ability to take a track deeper and into more abstract dimensions than his peers, creating an exceptional outcome - a bewitching, cathedral-esque hybrid of analogue and digital heaven.

Another exceptional Berlin-based talent is Ray Kajioka, whose releases on Kanzleramt (among many other respected labels) are the stuff of legend, for those in the know. With his heart firmly planted in the roots of the classic Detroit Techno vibe, his remix interpretation of ‘Convection’ (the original of which appeared on Alex’s ‘Angular EP’ AEON021) is a balletic, modern, melodic masterpiece. Warm waterfalls of layered keys flow beautifully throughout, as Ray takes the track on an unforgettable, delicate, emotional journey.

In distinct contrast, for the EP’s finale, ‘Luminance’ (the B-side of Alex’s original ‘Divergent’ AEON018 release) fires a furnace of thumping, percussive energy, laced with melancholic synth motifs, courtesy of Daniel Bortz. The widely respected, yet seldom acknowledged, Bavarian DJ/Producer is a distinctly enigmatic character, whose releases for the likes of Innervisions, Permanent Vacation and Exit Strategy, mark him out as being an exceptional artist, and the perfect choice to add his interpretative skills to this remix project.

AEON’s releases always reference back to Alex Niggemann’s roots, a platform to showcase music that stands for pure quality and originality, and this ‘Remixes EP’ continues this ethos perfectly. AEON has always been a home to cutting-edge artists, and Lucy, Ray Kajioka and Daniel Bortz continue this tradition - all breathe life into their productions with true emotion, and boldly walk their own path towards a very bright and highly creative musical future.

Best known for his works on Kanzleramt, most notably for his releases "Spark" and "Thrill", as well as "Never Ending" on Cocoon Recordings, which became huge hits and have been listed in many DJ charts since. Further known by his remixes for Truncate, Joel Mull, Elbee Bad, Alexander Kowalski, Heiko Laux, Tom Hades, Housemeister, Victor Calderone, DJ T-1000, to name a few. Ray's music is characterized by a warm spheric and impulsive sound, that can be deep and trippy on the one side. Or simply banging and pushing forward.
