Born and raised behind the iron curtain, I started listening to EBM, Industrial and Electro-Industrial in 1992 and have been collecting music, making mixtapes and playing at parties ever since. Even back then in the 90’s, I was interested in unusual futuristic stuff, like the Skinny Puppy side project named Download or Rhys Fulbers Project Noise Unit. In the late 90s, I got very much in touch with IDM and Electro, mostly through artists like Sabres of Paradise, Two Lone Swordsmen, Plaid, Autechre and Aphex Twin.

I bought my first synthesizer and drum computer in 1999, a Yamaha SY 77 and a Boss DR202, starting to experiment with them and to record stuff. However, in 2008, I got on a very antimaterialistic trip while moving from Berlin to Leipzig, sold all my gear and just kept my acoustic guitar.

After years of studiying, research work and family founding, I decided to slowly get back into making electronic music because passion never fades.

Romain Jauzas a.k.a. Jauzas The Shining (@jauzastheshining) is a well-known personality within the electro scene. This French artist made a name for himself in the early 2000s as one of the resident DJs at Zoobizarre in his hometown, Bordeaux, and hasn’t stopped spreading his love to the electro genre since then, not only as a DJ but also as a producer on labels such as Transient Force, New Flesh, Space Factory, or Brokntoys among others. On this occasion, Jauzas The Shining offers an eclectic and catchy journey full of his very own productions. Enjoy it!

Mike aka Urban Jedi, first started playing vinyl in 1988 round his mate’s house dropping Electro and Hip-Hop vinyl for bedroom mixes and learning his trade. 
The Rave scene came along and in 1991 he started dropping the latest old skool tunes to packed out crowds over the next year and was soon asked to DJ in Newcastle including the legendary club ‘Liberties’.
He moved in 1993 to Oxford for work and soon got caught up with the underground scene in the majestic city of dreaming spiers. He began playing at The Zodiac, The Pink House and The Coven.
Life and work got in the way for a few years then in 2003, he bought a Korg MS2000B synth & Korg Electribe ER1 and started to create his own tracks. Itching the scratch he had had for a few years, production was definitely the path he wanted to go down.
In 2011, he released his Nu-Electro music, and the response was fantastic, the songs were soon chosen by Binalog Productions and placed on a compilation.
N-Ter and the Cro-bot Crew also picked Urban Jedi’s tracks for various compilations, and they became well renowned in the Electro scene.
Working with Diamond Back Kid, they co-released an EP called ‘The Disconnect EP’ in 2013. He also had clear vinyl copies pressed up of the now hard to find and sought-after Urban Jedi v Leeroy ‘The Droids You’re Looking For’ EP.
Highlights of his producing work was when his track ‘Journey To Jupiter’ was released on the French label Melodies Souterraines and got played on a Radio 1 Essential Mix by Electro DJ Helena Hauff.

As Mike’s production confidence grew, he approached Dave Clarke on his White Noise Show and he’s now had his songs played several times over the years on the show.
His Jedi Mind Trax show has been on Global Funk Radio since 2010 and on Method Radio since 2020 and is a staple monthly show for all Electro heads.
Now signed to Freddy Fresh’s label Analog Records based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Urban Jedi will be releasing a new digital EP in the very near future, watch this space!

EKATA is a London based DJ/Producer + Natural Selection Resident who has become a prominent and well respected artist in the Electro scene.

She has played at the likes of Tresor, Meraki, Fold + HÖR and has a well recieved release on highly esteemed Avoidant, the Electro sub label of Soma records under her belt. 

With 5 more releases planned this year on some of her favourite Electro labels, she's set to flourish further in 2023.

EKATA is self-described as genre and sound obsessive. She has built a reputation as a huge advocate for purist Electro and an artist that orchestrates a dark and warped experience that brings energy to the dancefloor with her meticulous signature style. Her sound best personifies ominous grooves and obvious sci-fi fixations which embody her carefully picked selections.

We continue to introduce you to new names and today we have Manta - an artist from The Hague, Netherlands with a selection of exclusively his tracks that are not released yet and are waiting to be released.

Which artists has influenced you the most?

- This is really quite diverse, I listen to lot's of different artists, obscure and more known artists. Listening to a lot of the old Tumpett label tapes right now but also the whole ecosystem surrounding Drexciya (UR, Dopplereffekt, Zyklus, DJ Stingray and various Stinson/Donald releases). If I would describe the music style I make it would be an exploration in EBM and new beat sounds blended with (Detroit) electro and ambient soundscapes. One of my all time favourite releases is Autechre - Tri Repetae.

What new projects/releases with your participation are expected in the near future?

- Still working on it!

Which artists/labels is more relevant to you now?

- My current playlist is quite diverse - from electro, ambient to doom metal. Right now I play a recent release on Brokntoys from Non Punire called Espeletia.

What inspires you now to create music?

- Mostly the machines I work with. I create all my own sounds. If I don't feel inspired I usually create my own presets on different synths and these can bring me in a certain atmosphere / vibe and suddenly a new track is finished. 

What set-up do you use when creating music? 

- I sequence from Ableton Live and use hardware and software 50/50. The Prophet 12 is used a lot, this is a dark beast but really requires programming to get the most out of it. I have some vintage synths such as a SH2 which I use often for basslines, Juno 60, MKS-50 and Korg ex8000. I exploit the reverbs from the Ensoniq DP/4 quite a lot.

Ray Sedney aka Ray La Soul. For years Ray played electronic music like house, techno drum n bass and more.  During the Covid19 pandemic something has changed. By mere coincidence he rediscovered his love for electro, the music that played a huge part in his youth. This style takes him back to his B-boying days ages ago. Ray still has the records he bought back in those days, records he cherishes. 
So nowadays Ray, aka Ray La Soull, not only mixes his weekly radio show Space Is The Place, he also creates electro tunes under his alias Qamar Sol. 
In case you are wondering what the name Qamar Sol stands for, it means Moon (Arabic) and Sun (Spanish), both celestial bodies that are very dear to him.
