Today we listen a selection by QphoriQ, aka Leo Vasilets Moscow/Tel aviv artist, launched in 2019 and began releasing his records mostly on vinyl all over the world.
His records have been played by such artists as Ben Sims, Freddy K., Umwelt, Thousand Details and other well known artists and DJ’s. Beginning with straight techno, his music eventually evolved into electro and breaks. Leo prefers to go totally analog, using modulars, analog synths, and tape recording during the session.

Which artists has influenced you the most?

- If speaking about music in general, that was post-punk and new wave music: Joy Division, New Order, The Cure, 808 State, Happy Mondays, etc. And if we are more focused on electronic music in particular, I would say that it would be iconic stuff like F.S.O.L., Underworld, Leftfield, and Aux88 (and all of their side projects, especially Optic Nerve). Also I should mention E.B.M scene which has deferentially affected on me a lot. Stuff like Front 242, Nitzer Ebb, and everything in between.

What new projects/releases with your participation are expected in the near future?

- My new EP vinyl should be released on Diffuse Reality this year with the remix of one of the top electro scene artists. But I'm obliged not to give the details.

Which artists/labels is more relevant to you now?

- There are whole bunch of now-days labels which I totally adore and which vinyl I use to buy. Sungate, Shall Not Fade, Frustrated Funk, Odd Even, Over/Shadow, Delsin (of course), Feel My Bicep, Cultivated Electronics - these are just a few of them.

What inspires you now to create music?

- Unfortunately, I'm far away from my home studio, so I'm very limited on production at the moment. But usually, it's an attempt to kinda intertwine my human emotions with the machines. And I like to get the right groove out of it. Groove (whatever it might mean) is, in my opinion, the most important thing in music.

What set-up do you use when creating music?

- I go totally analog. Modular, Moog Grandmother, Electron Analog keys, MS-20, AKAI Z-4, pro-1 and lots of other different stuff I also love to record some parts on a vintage tape recorder.
