Long days and warm nights
Laughter carried through the breeze
Summer sings to us

Trenise Ferreira is a Jamaican-American writer who has been telling stories her entire career: as a college football journalist, a publicist at Walt Disney World Resort, and currently as a corporate communications professional and children’s book author.

When Trenise was in third grade, her teacher said that she should write books when she grew up – and Mrs. Buckner got it right! Wonder and imagination are at the heart of Trenise’s stories, creating worlds where children can get lost between the pages, laugh, and learn along the way.

An active member of the SCBWI Los Angeles chapter, Trenise is also a graduate of the Children’s Book Academy and The Voice Roadmap writing programs. She was selected as an inaugural mentee for the 2022 Picture Book Rising Stars program and is currently a 2023 We Need Diverse Books mentee.

As Morrissey said in those heady days
He'd like to drop his trousers in the queen's parade

I get the sentiment and it looks more pertinent
Learning more of the establishment pervertedness
We could power the national grid with  their "lost" files
Cos the States of Office are full of paper shredding trails

And those conspiracy freaks with their creepy newspapers
May be wrong but they're on to the capers
Of our so called betters in parliament
As they look down on the rest of us

From Leeds to Manchester, Brighton to Aberdeen
We now have a King, but we'd rather the Queen
The "Queen is dead" has finally come true
But the change we hoped for is not for the red, white and blue

Cos the same people that push us down
Are ramming their ideology and using the crown
There is no patriotism in doing us down
And i suspect even the Queen might frown

At the state of the country as we fall further down
The rabbit hole of Thatcherism that idolises the crown

No more, please, please no more
We cannot take it anymore
They kick us down and they take it all
We cannot take it anymore

I'm a composer, working from a 3' x 5' studio (some may call it a dinette) in a 5th wheel camper, while traveling the United States. I've been on the road for six years, so most of my recent work will have come from a different state (of mind and location) during my travels.

Music makes me feel better about everything. I don't know that I'm ever happier than when I am creating. I sometimes wonder if creativity isn't one of the primary keys to happiness. Do you ever feel better than when you say, "Look what I did."? This phrase magically conjures the purest sense of childlike joy.

Music works for every part of our lives. We all have music for when we are sad, happy, celebrating, meeting others, when we are alone, and even when we are lonely. Did a song come to mind as you read each of those situations? I remember the first song I ever heard on the radio, on my first bus ride to kindergarten. One of my favorite musical memories is playing in a band for steel beach on the flight deck of the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz.

I love telling stories with music. Everybody loves John Coffey in the Green Mile, but Mr. Jingles should have a song commemorating his reaching and joining the circus at Mouseville. If you agree, join me for this and similar journeys. The music here is synthetic, but as real as you would choose to have it.
