GRAMMY-nominated production duo Gabriel & Dresden release the ‘Kinetic Cinema EP’, out now on Anjunabeats.

Josh Gabriel & Dave Dresden, aka Gabriel & Dresden, have earned a dedicated and unwavering fanbase over the past two decades of their career. Renowned for their timeless and emotional records, the GRAMMY-nominated production duo underpinned modern trance with hits like ‘As The Rush Comes’, ‘Beautiful Things’ and ’Tracking Treasure Down.’

Gabriel & Dresden made their Anjunabeats album debut with ‘The Only Road’ in 2017. Title track ‘Only Road’,’ co-written and performed by Sub Teal, went on to be remixed by Cosmic Gate and was subsequently nominated for a GRAMMY in 2018.

The duo have three BBC Radio 1 Essential Mixes under their belt, won Best American DJ, Best Producers and Best Remixers at the IDMA Awards, scored 21 #1’s on the Billboard Dance Chart, peaked at #20 on DJ Mag Top 100 DJ’s poll and have performed in over 40 countries worldwide.

Gabriel & Dresden dropped the seismic single ‘Kinetic Cinema’ earlier this month, which earned support from the likes of Argy, Joris Voorn, Nicole Moudaber, Kevin De Vries, Einmusik and more.

They now follow it up with the ‘Kinetic Cinema EP’, a celebration of club music that the duo have road tested across North America since the start of 2024. Featuring four tracks designed for the dancefloor, the EP is inspired by the wide range of music that the pair have listened to over the past few years.

The release date for this collection - August 8, 2024 - also holds significance to its narrative; another intriguing facet to this conceptually-driven, artistic opus. Featuring 8 tracks, released on the 8th, and with the sum of 2024 amounting to 8, Victor sought to imbue his music with a sense of intentionality and depth, offering his listeners a meaningful and memorable experience tied to the alignment of numbers.
 
"This release is my way of pushing back against the transient nature of today’s music industry," says Ruiz. "I wanted to create something that would stand the test of time, that people could connect with on a deeper level. 'This Is Not An Album' is my revolt to a scene that often prioritizes quick hits over lasting impact.” He continues, “People may think that this has been a very elaborate project but it’s not. Bryan Kearney originally released 'You Will Never Be Forgotten' as a poignant tribute, to his good friend, Barry Connell, back in 2008. Having recently reclaimed the rights to the track, we decided that now is the time for a fresh take on this emotional uplifter. 

Lostly's remix of 'You Will Never Be Forgotten' is a masterful rework that honours the original while infusing it with fresh energy and emotion. Lostly's expert production techniques are evident, with his intricate layering of sounds, and each element meticulously crafted to enhance the impact of the track.

Opening with a striking and powerful offering, Hungarian producer CHRSTPHR fuses orchestral and deep elements in ‘Be Somebody’. Devising a dramatic soundscape with cinematic textures, Dutch producer MI;LAN delivers his instrumental cut ‘Eclipse’. Entering a progressive soundscape, French artist Evy Joy combines operatic vocals and fluctuating instrumentation in ‘Powerful Harmony’ to bring the compilation to a close. 

The Fragments XXIV artwork showcases a school of Barracudas, captured by Daniel Nicholson. Barracudas are sleek, predatory fish known for their sharp teeth and swift, aggressive hunting style in the ocean. They can grow up to six feet long and are often found in tropical and subtropical waters, where they use their speed to ambush prey. Despite their fearsome reputation, barracudas are an essential part of marine ecosystems, helping to maintain the balance by controlling the populations of smaller fish. Following his ‘Cold Strings’ EP back in May earlier this year, German producer Alex Breitling returns to Purified Records with his latest offering ‘Skyfall’. Devising a melodic soundscape with undulating synth patterns across deep bass, his latest cut embodies his euphoric and powerful musical identity. 

The ‘Skyfall’ artwork showcases an image of a hammerhead shark, captured by Daniel Nicholson. Hammerhead sharks are known for their distinctive, hammer-shaped heads, which give them an advantage in maneuverability and detecting prey through specialized sensory organs. These adaptations make them highly effective hunters of stingrays, fish, and other sharks. Unfortunately, many hammerhead species are endangered due to overfishing for their fins, habitat destruction, and bycatch, making conservation efforts crucial to their survival.
