HORIZON 15

Found some old answering machine tapes of Shapes from 98, when we lived in PG. Fun times. I wanted to put this up on his birthday but getting everything together and making a beat that fit the vibe wasn't clicking, but tonight it did. Shaper Lives!

Shapers Answering Machine 98'

Long story that goes with this track. I was working on this beat and Self Jupiter was in the studio. He had a reference hook, we laid it, a few weeks later Aceyalone started a verse for it and we could never get the schedule lined up to record it. On my 34th (?) Birthday Ab Rude and Myka 9 came by, I was getting tattooed next door and I was way too drunk and in pain to record. But like usual Zack was there and he ended up engineering this session. He added some needed high hats and gave the instrumental some real life. This is one of my favorite verses from Ab even though it's a short one. Myka kills it too. While Myka was recording I just walked into the booth like it was no thing. He didn't miss a beat! The next day I woke up in pain with a hangover and heard this. We never really finished it but that was the case with about 90% of the songs during the Freestyle Fellowship sessions.

A little ditty I recorded in 2008. Produced by Juicy the Emissary and Lone of Fab Deuce. Never finished it or put it out but it still makes me laugh. At the time I was working on several similar songs under the moniker Cliff Hux. A nod to Clifford Huxtable. In hindsight this was a terrible idea and I'm glad it died when it did. But enjoy.
