🔹Mary J. Oliver
is a poet and novelist who most kindly assisted us at CKCU-FM93.1 | Literary News with the production of this broadcast as a guest editor. Without her profound personal knowledge of the specifically Cornish sphere of literary activities in her country, we could not have produced the show. We’re very thankful to her for all that she has done for us as well as for her fellow poets.-
Professionally trained in the visual arts, Mary J. Oliver took up writing full time ten years ago. Since then her poems have appeared in many periodicals and anthologies in the UK and US. Competitions won include those judged by the Irish poet Paul Muldoon, who won a Pulitzer Prize for Poetry and the T.S. Eliot Prize, and by the famous poet, novelist and wild-life protection activist Ruth Sophia Padel. Mary J. Oliver’s first book, Jim Neat: The Case of a Young Man Down on His Luck, was published by Seren Books in 2019. In 2017, the original manuscript of Jim Neat was awarded 2nd prize in the New Welsh Writing Memoir Award. Five of the poems from it have been set to music for piano by the composer Judith Bailey. Mary J. Oliver edits ‘Piccolina,’ a poetry newsletter promoting live-poetry events in Cornwall, UK. 🔹 Tom Goskar (mandolin) and Tehmina Goskar (violin and cello) of cornishtrad.com who granted us the permission to insert excerpts from two compositions performed by them:
The first is called ‘Can Jack’ and the second is called ‘Pencarrow’. Can Jack is by Cornish author and playwright Robert Morton Nance. Pencarrow is traditional, possibly dating from the 17th century.

Poetry From Cornwall, UK: New Female Voices.

My entry to the Spinnin' records remix competition of Broke by Wave Wave.

My version of this track pays dues to the original's quite rock-based vibe, with verse vs. chorus, with an extra grungy feel in the final build up. This version is more suited to cranking up in the car than the club floor given the lack of beat during the verses, but definitely gets the body moving during the chorus. Great track to work with.

The album 'Teaching A Fish To Fly' by Motorpig was conceived as series of narrations, made of memories and personal impressions of the author, and it consists of five pieces of long-shot drone-ambient jams draws conceptually on audio snapshots from travelling and intended to evoke a kind of surrealist images in a listener’s mind, images of something very simple but capable to tap the subconscious of the human brain with a focus on introspection and imagination. The work combines digital granular, analogue FM-synthesis, field recordings and occasional noises processed on a laptop, with its ranges and spectrum from more subtle soundscapes to rawer and at times even unnerving drones and sound experiments. 

Motorpig is an electronic project started in 2012 by Mykola Yosypenko based in Kharkiv, Ukraine. Inspired by his surroundings, he started doing music experiments using old tape recorders layering street sounds, radio noises and acoustic guitar to create vast sound collages. His today’s work combines generative music and granular synthesis with digitally processed field recordings and acoustic instruments. The music itself is a blend of his influences and imagination.

Nicsen @nicolas-terceiro began his career as a discjockey in 2008 in Asturias, Spain, when he started to perform in clubs and discotheques. He has recently become part of the Peacock DJ Agency from Asturias and collaborates with promoters such as Pure Works, Copyleft or Wild System. After 12 years in the industry, Nicsen is a DJ with a knack for slow, hypnotic and dense rhythms. His own productions come with a well-presented combination of spaced-out darkness, Kosmische vibes and Italo rhythms.
