Shards of hope glimmer. Everything is fragile. All it took was nine dreams to repeat. After that the silence learned my name. I try to grasp the remainIng shards, but to no avail. They slip through my fingers like fine dust. The Void lingers, a quiet witness to every fracture. I plead for peace, for recovery, for safety. Each note a whisper of what could have been, each melody a fragile plea to hold onto what's left before it ultimately shatters.

EA Review: The Maker - Shifting Gears EP 

There's something nostalgic about The Maker's EP: Although recognizably current on the basis of sound design, each track on the release is unassumingly simple. Compositionally, the tunes depict single scenes rather than stores, and The Maker isn't afraid of using silence to hold musical space. The effect is reminiscent of dubstep's early discography - when the innovation of the emerging style and its unique vibe was excitement enough, and complexity for its own sake wasn't a competition among artists. In this way, there's a refreshing purity to The Maker's release. Instead of straining to redefine the genre, the Shifting Gears EP is dubstep made to celebrate dubstep itself by capturing the essence of the sound, element by element.
