FROM MY UPCOMING EP, "BREAD AND WATER," "COME TOO FAR" IS A SOULFUL AND PERSONAL SONG ABOUT MY UPBRINGING.

Verse 1: “Born in the winter to humble beginnings- I was the, middle child to two sisters as siblings. My mother, strong and proud, my father worked for the city, he literally broke his back for his family earning a living. So I was grateful, there was food on the table, those vertebrae herniation’s had almost made him disabled. My mother, put us in church to teach us the gospel, through high school, there was no hip hop allowed in the household- cause she’d be playing Commodores, I ain’t have nothing in common with Common back then, cause it was Tom Jones. My father big as a Texan they called him long horns, not the one to mess with man, not the one to lock horns. No time for convos, unless the lawn mowed, I couldn’t imagine ever having an iphone, not with all the working done in and out of my home- my back was tan as brown, they called me marron.”

Verse 2: “Far from the inner city, more like a little city. I’d say a little hickey if asking me quickly. Couldn’t say we rapped to Biggie, but before Lil Dicky, we had short hispanics rolling sticky in little dickies. The town was San Jacinto, everyone called it SJ, we were a bunch of castoffs from San Diego and LA. Black, white, Hispanic, got robbed by a couple ese’s, got dropped by my first girlfriend, Katie Johnson in tenth grade. The world around me began to surround me, around the clock stopped, everyday victim of clowning. Bully harassment, 5ft tall target to ask kick, ask if I ever fought back, twice I smashed them. Even at church, Jerome was the worst, it hurt, the day he was gunned down, near our field off of 1st. Momma you can’t hide my eyes from violence I’m inside the climate that comprised my high school riot.”

Verse 3:
Impacted who I am, that little speck of nothing, that little nowhere town set out in that desert oven. You hear these soulful sounds now, but yesterday they wasn’t, I was led astray in many ways but learned to rise above it. I learned what not to do- mostly who not be- what not to become, and what not to believe. Thank god I had a father pops and me fished up at Noquebay, still it took a couple of knots in my top at P.E. to see that I was bigger than that town that I was living in- everybody in the bubble for the fear of difference. Thank god that I wasn’t for the box or for fitting in, the citizen, who decided that he couldn’t sit and spin. I remember it all vivid as now, let me first say love to everyone in my home town. Just know I had to go and discover my own sound, the soul sound, I’ve grown and provide to you now.

This one I went for a cross of Indiana Jones and Zelda/Castlevania, staying with the adventurous theme. Speaking of themes, I incorporated the main theme from the Cartoon Network show that I will hopefully be working on called "OK KO! Let's Be Heroes!" Coming out of the slow and 'scary' middle section you'll first hear the strings do a little motif, the Main Theme of the show. You'll hear it again at the key modulation. I initially had drums throughout the song that I mimicked from the Muse song "Knights of Cydonia." After working on drums for a couple of hours, I went back to listen and accidentally muted them. I thought the song sounded better without them, so I deleted the whole track.  Once it was finalized I had to name it so I went with the Cydonia/Castlevania/Zelda combo lol. I had a lot of fun with this one.
