Balmus Alexandru, better known as Alex Bibi, is a very flexible musician that seamlessly blends musical styles, whether he's performing at a beach party, endless parties, or roofs. He began his journey in this world ten years ago, at the Space club in Bucharest, and since then he has perfected his style, inspired by artists such as Ricardo Villalobos, Raresh, Lee Burridge, Derrick May, Dyed Soundorom, Luciano, DeWalta, or Kerri Chandler, and incorporating funk, jazz, breaks, Latin funk, or bboying influences. In reality, Alex has been practicing breakdance since he was a child, and it has influenced his musical approach.

Alex lived in Ibiza for four years, performing music at venues such as Itaca Beach, Coolture Cafe, Enigma, Eden, Veto Social Club, Nikki Beach, and Rooftop Ibiza. By L'Eléphant and was invited to many podcasts for Ibiza Global Radio and Ibiza Digital Sunset, such as It's All About the Music or Secuencias. Alex is a member of the Background Ibiza and Purity Ibiza labels, and this year will release tunes produced in cooperation with Mws on Susur Records. Unisson Records will issue another. Alex's songs have been backed by musicians such as Barac, Marc Antona, Hansel, MWS, and many more over the years.

Sometime the best things in life come slowly, building up over a prolonged amount of time to reach a perfected state of euphoria. That's the ethos at play as Josh Wink's ever-lasting Ovum imprint release the Breathe EP from Ben Hoo. The London based producer and multi instrumentalist draws on his long list of influences and tastes, weaving in classical structure, down-tempo beats and more into his eclectically flavoured tracks.

Following on from his works on the likes of Kindisch, Highgrade and Mute Records, Breathe is another worthy addition to the Ovum roster, following on from recent bombs on the label from the likes of Vince Watson, MANIK and head honcho Josh himself.

The title cut takes its time, sensually offering swathes of lush of sub bass, chiming, echoing melodies and deep aesthetics, to create a slow-burning, heart warming track that entices and uplifts throughout its sexy, seductive groove.

For its sophomore release, vinyl only record label, Modeight prepares a special VA: "Modification 01" that firmly establishes the label's unique fingerprint in putting out some of the finest minimal cuts in the Eastern European underground circuit. University Of Nowhere present "Ja Z," a record that features a smooth ominous chord brooding in the background while a thick bassline carves out the rest of this atmospheric take. Bucharest's Olivian Nour presents a fierce minimal breaks groove in "Elaborat" that uses pulsating percussive textures placed on top of a powerful minimalist bassline. Over on the B-Side, Germany's Durrrred returns to Modeight with a punchy bass groove that ascends into a clear flow of micro percussive pieces and a calm, swelling pad quietly reveals itself from behind the rhythm. Svet holds its minimal techno roots close in "The Astral Traveler." A dense, hypnotizing, low end is the focal point as the bass growls from measure to measure eager to break out from behind the filter. This collection is ready to go right out of the sleeve for the best afterhours around the world.
