Barcode Population - All Aboard The U.S.S. Severe

Back at our mammoth Stay True Scotland broadcast earlier this month, one track came real close to bringing The Caves' roof down during Nina Kraviz's powerhouse headline set. "I Wanna Go Bang" very nearly executed its titular statement – well, if the song was more about wrecking balls and less about...oh, never mind.

The vocals that stalk the track, so wholly devoid of humanity, rub up against razor-sharp claps and serious bounce in the subs. It's weighty warehouse techno of the highest order, set to devastate dark basements and big tents alike throughout the year. Simply put: Icelandic producer Bjarki has delivered a bomb.

Coming up on their 25th release in a couple of weeks, Berlin-based label Killekilll, by now, has become a synonymous source for techno and electro in the German capital. Headed up by Nico Deuster, who's been catering to the city's party needs for almost twenty years,  the Killekill brand has gone from a weekly club night at Berghain Kantine to a fully-fledged physical platform with multiple offshoot labels such as Killekill House Trax and Krake. The latter comes as a result of a festival they kicked off of the same name in 2010; a Berlin-based festival for experimental dance music and abstract electronica. Over those twenty-five releases names such as Neil Landstrumm, Snuff Crew, Bill Youngman, Alex Cortex  and Eomac have all been welcomed into the Killekill fold, some of those returning for the Killekill Megahits II compilation which marks this 25th release. The milestone number also comes as a turning point for Killekill as they get set to split the label into a line of several new offshoots writing: “We are constantly getting too many demos full with good music in way too many different styles to squeeze them onto one label. So finally we have come to the point where we will start a line of new labels with different profiles to give ourselves the opportunity to feature even more daring artists and release whatever we like in the most suitable outfit for it." Featuring twelve tracks, we've been given the opportunity to premiere one of those from French producer Umwelt. Owner of two labels (New Flesh and Rave Or Die),with three albums under his belt, Umwelt comes through with a sublime cut of melancholic electro.

After countless eps on Shipwrec, Return To Disorder or his own imprints "New Flesh" and "Rave Or Die" , the electro producer from Lyon is back for his first album since "Galvanic Vestibular Stimulation" released in 2006 ten years ago on Satamile Records from NYC ! This long awaited LP is the first outing of Killekill's new sublabel BOIDAE and it hardly disappoints. Eights tracks with distinctive feelings, raw electro, industrial, rave and machine-funk all way round. Here is the dark and nervous epic titletrack "Days Of Dissent", enjoy !

'Tri-gate' finds Sync 24 hooking up with UK techno noisenik @truss for a muscular electro workout with bass weighty enough to grab you by the throat, and dizzying 808 breaks to put your head in a spin. It’s a paranoiac soundscape with vocal smears and interference, driving you through a futuristic urban darkness in the way only good electro can, without ever being formulaic or predictable. The old cliche is true – if it ain't broke don't fix it, but to that we might add: just keep pushing it to its limits. Truss and Sync 24 are certainly doing that.

After releasing records on L.I.E.S. and it's offspring Russian Torrent Versions, Caserta native Domenico Crisci quickly rose to prominence among purveyors of timeless Techno. A third record on Eerie cemented his reputation as a careful engineer of effective, crafty dance floor cuts that comfortably sit next to early works of the genre's pioneers. Domenico gathered experience as a DJ for many years, spinning a mix of Acid and Techno with a puristic approach.

One of the most eagerly anticipated electronic albums of 2012 is finally released! After a series of groundbreaking singles: Pain In the Ass, Im Week and Ghetto Kraviz (featured here) Muscovite Nina Kraviz is set to release her eponymously titled debut artist album on Radio Slaves superb Rekids imprint. Ninas album is a combination of stripped-bare house, deepest Detroit sounds via beautifully ambient pockets and more soul infused slo-mo jams, all coated with an authentic analogue finish and Nina exquisite vocals. The music is emotive and engaging, whilst being something truly original and inspirational. The album features collaborations with Hard Ton and King Aus. Playing out like a full artistic statement rather than just a collection of tracks, the odd time signatures, innocent and waify vocals, muted acid lines and hypnotic loops layered up by Nina all work subtly at pulling you into her world. A superbly, executed and accomplished debut album that has already set the bar high for electronic albums this year.
