#114 presented by Tokyo based artist Ryogo Yamamori (@ryogoyamamoritracks). A brooding, eclectic mix which perfectly showcases his signature style. The Japanese producer has a sound reminiscent of the broader, ever-impressive Japanese techno scene, but always with his own signature take. 

Ryogo's DJ'ing & productions (often via his own label Kagerou),  immerse you in a dreamy atmosphere of organic & unique percussive  elements, underpinned by a sparse warmth & driving psychedelic techno energy.

Next up in the Fast Forward Audio Series, we present: Ryan James Ford

During the 1990’s while growing up in western Canada, Ryan James Ford was introduced to electronic music through the local rave and club scene. He began to discover, study, and collect the music he heard at these parties which consisted of a mix of Jungle, UK hardcore, Techno,House, IDM, and ambient.
Fast forward many years later to Berlin, where Ryan and his productions found a solid home on the legendary Clone records from Rotterdam and has other production’s on Anetha’s Mama Told Ya, Ida’s SÄVY, Marcel Dettmann’s MDR, Answer Code Request’s ACR, Dream Ticket, and his own label SHUT. PLUR is the new record label from Ryan James Ford. The inaugural release 'Ripping EP' begins a new path of club focused tracks from himself and other like-minded contemporaries. PLUR will act as a tool to discover new energy on modern dance floors.

Ryan’s sets and productions are rich with inspiration from his time spent living in Calgary where he had interests not only in electronic music but also in hip hop, post rock, reggae, jazz, experimental, and even some interest in metal. He began experimenting with production in the early 2000’s but it wasn’t until 2013, with a move to Berlin, that he started investigating his musical capabilities seriously.
Even though two decades have passed since Ryan’s introduction to electronic music, his love for early Warp, Metalheads, Metroplex, Novamute, Skam, Downwards, etc. can still be heard resoundingly clear in the strength and versatility of his productions and sets. The future will see Ford continue to play out and release on labels that share his like-minded affiliation and roots in the electronic music community.

Fast Forward Audio Series #93: Ryan James Ford

Lobster Theremin gets it's first 10" release on the White Label series via Farbwechsel boss and Opal Tapes releasee, S Olbricht. Having amassed a discography of murky, unsettling house and techno culled from the belly of the machine, Olbricht makes his LT debut with four slices of womb-recorded house and scruffy beats on 'A Place Called Ballacid'. 

Opening with the galloping flange-hell jam 'fi', Olbricht screws, twerks and modulates his squished acid lines into a wretching cosmic gloop. But that's not everything; the A1 contains a secret 1 minute reprise, all Larry Heard acid lines reverberating under a warm heated blanket with 808 bubbles just about hitting the surface. This is swiftly followed by the twinkling, melodic 'veuns'. Easily the most accessible slice of the release; the thunderous bassline and killer percussion aim to derail it's tom-driven stutter but to no avail. A short-but-sweet floor-crumbler! 

Flipping over to the B-side, 'rpsts' rushes out of the gates, forgetting all of it's percussive manners with it's stumbling rhythmic centre-block shrouded by a hallucinogen-fuelled doomsday bass that rumbles and slams the heaviest of glue compressors. After the madness, 'IIX1' comes sauntering into the fray; a wild homage to drum machine battery echoing from the dark recesses of an abandoned starship. An intense Chicago reworking of the Alien soundtrack, pinned to a faraway galactic synth line that refuses to let the overriding dystopia rule.

Van Morph is a restless spirit that has been around since the early 90's as a clubber but also as a listener. In the mid 90's his love for electronic music brought him close to the desire to learn the art of DJing. With this initiation, he officially began his journey in the field of the music industry . He is Co-Owner / Founder of the record Labels Khoros Records, Eurynome Records and Chronos Records, continues to this day to share his musical concerns since music for him is a way of life, a choice that has determined to this day his course so far. His style changes and reshapes from time to time and that does not make him boring.
His music is characterized by dancing bass lines and psychedelic accompaniments while other times his dub mood with various percussions and melodies show the other side of him.

Menou / iwamaki is a Japan-based DJ and live performer specialising in Drone & Ambient Techno. Since starting her DJ career in 2015, she has performed at some of Japan's most iconic venues, including Contact Tokyo, VENT Tokyo, sound space α, Kagurane, and Soup. In 2017, she took the stage at the legendary Dommune, further establishing herself in the underground scene.

In 2019, Menou expanded her craft, introducing her live sets, which feature a distinct approach to sound layering. Her live performances have earned her international recognition, including appearances at Mostra Festival in Barcelona (April 2023).

Menou's DJ and live performances offer a deep, immersive journey through drone soundscapes, where subtle, evolving layers of sound create a rich, atmospheric experience. Her goal is to invite listeners into a meditative state, where they can appreciate the nuanced shifts and textures that define her sound.

A Drone Odyssey: MENOU (Live Set)

Derlich began to experiment with sound manipulation back in 2006, where upon an unrealised desire to create a certain feeling and aesthetic left him unsatisfied with his initial work.

After years of experimentation, natural progression lead him towards the darker and more extreme sides of music. His passion for art, derelict landscapes, and abandoned locations feeds the inspiration to work in this shadowy area of electronic music. 
Utilising elements of abstract noise, techno, and Industrialism, Derlich's music is deep, dark and hypnotic experimentalism at its very best.
