Durga is characterized by decisiveness, persistence in achieving the intended goal, invincibility, an ardent desire to overcome the opposing forces on the Path. She creates and destroys, shows humility and at the same time uncontrollability, puts on bright good qualities and at the same time can show rage and instill fear. She is the patronizing mother goddess. In order to restore Dharma and harmony in this world, the gods combined their powers into a single divine energy of Shakti.
