With its textured and semi-improvised atmospheres, frantic rhythmic patterns and meticulously detailed low-end sounds, Hyter’s ‘Unmanned World’ foreshadows a speculative territory built upon concrete images of not yet actualised possibilities. Like a declaration of intent, ‘Xenia’ - the EP opening track - is expressive of a commitment to open up the material and cultural boundaries encapsulating our self-contained individuality.

The ‘Unmanned World’ is imagined as an epiphanic condition achieved by accessing a whole new plane of existence that configures itself across and beyond the human scale, in-between the cosmic and inframolecular order. All in all, Hyter’s EP stands out for its eclectic elegance, ever-evolving complexity and lyrical intensity, which reaches its climax in the final, self-condemning verses of ‘Output (Whole Earth Garden)’: <<locked in this cage where we struggle and try / my only regret is my whole life>>.

In the unmanned world there is no place for the human as we used to conceive of it, nor is any centrality reserved for it anymore. Ultimately, Hyter’s work is an invitation to rethink our earthbound existence, acknowledging that our innermost self does not entirely lay within us.
