Coming straight from the new generation of hyper-prolific bedroom producers without any blinders, French producer and DJ Realitycheck makes his Global Warming debut by pushing hard on the accelerator pedal with Infra/Vertigo. The newly appointed Rinse FM resident’s latest project is a highly percussive 2-tracker ingesting dubstep, drill, ambient and techno into his own mutant body.

‘Infra’ is the kind of track that will stab you in a corner if you’re not being careful. With its menacing basslines, subaquatic atmospheres, hammering percussions and hypnotic sound FX, this hybrid belter will resonate both at sweaty rap nights and underground techno clubs.
‘Vertigo’ is an homage to stepper reggae, blending its signature four to the floor heavy dub beat with aerial synths and post-trap rhythms. A truly refreshing sound that makes you travel into unexpectedly soothing no-go zones.

The release is visually scored by Marseille-based graphic guru Ben Hubbard, responsible for previous disturbing Global Warming artworks from Jon Beige or Ouai Stéphane. He’s adding an extra layer of styles crossover, using a blend of video footage, graffiti, visual warps and collage to create a unique piece for each track.

Global Warming Records is run by Franco-British producer and talent seeker Malcolm, who imagines and shapes each project hand in hand with his artists. Infra/Vertigo will be the label’s 16th release.

I’m super happy to share with you ''Competition for Status'', a very special collaborative release with fellow French producer PEEV. It's a 3 tracks EP and it's out July 28th on Music For Commercials. The Lead track ''Demand Generation''  has been kindly premiered by Ransom Note while ''Below The Line'' is promoted by Tsugi. 

The release navigates between broken beats, IDM-infused melodies, atmospheric pads and lush arpeggios, perfectly reflecting the savoir-faire of both producers in a fractal voyage into the unknown. 

The release will be available in digital but also on a limited run of upcycled VHS tapes (with tracks being used as the soundtrack of a 15 minutes video creation), Both formats are available for pre-order on Music for Commercials Bandcamp

"Unethical behavior within organizations is not rare. Peev & Realitycheck investigate experimentally the role of status-seeking behavior in sabotage and cheating activities aiming at improving one's performance ranking in a flat-wage environment. They find that average effort is higher when individuals are informed about their relative performance. However, ranking feedback also favors disreputable behavior. Some individuals do not hesitate to incur a cost to improve their rank by sabotaging others' work or by increasing artificially their own performance. Introducing sabotage opportunities has a strong detrimental effect on performance. Therefore, ranking incentives should be used with care. Inducing group identity discourages sabotage among peers but increases in-group rivalry."

Beginning life in February of this year, French label Music For Commercials' mission is focused on environmental preservation, recycling old materials like floppy discs and VHS cassette tapes to house the music. After a compilation featuring around 14 artists, they're returning with their sophomore release, an EP from Realitycheck and Peev, which will be available on VHS. The two French producers—the former known for his releases on Unknown To The Unknown and Renascence and the latter for his ambient productions and Rinse FM residency–come together for three original tracks that match their tastes for mysterious atmospheres and tight drum work.

To round off 2021, we are launching a new series of released titled ‘Risky Business’ which, as an echo to our sister label Riddims Supplies, will showcase a broad selection of hybrid dancehall riddims.

For this first volume, we’re inviting 5 outside producers as well as one of our own :

We’re kicking things off with british producer EYRA, currently living in Barcelona, who was featured on the first Accidental Meetings compilation release just a year ago. 

Realitycheck is also another newcomer to the label, following a stroke of impeccable releases, notably on Global Warming et Electroménager. 

As for Egregore, it is Stacktrace who represents the team, with a dubby track in line with his banger ‘Wicked Sitar’, and his latest productions for ‘Délices du midi’, a new series launched by Kaval.

Then comes Noods Radio resident MISH, recently seen and heard on Bristol’s Pressure Dome.

To complete this roster, we have two Toulouse-based producers. First the mysterious Maquis Son Sistèm, member of Folklore crew with a serious taste for collective transe and chamanic riddims. 

At last, the EP closes on a track by Knurx, already present on our charity compilation in support of  DAL31 and also author of a riddim for the 'Délices du Midi'
