Hot on the heels of our sold out inaugural release, with the production of our next vinyl still at a standstill, we are excited to finally present a brand new digital series: OOSX. Tracks made for the clubs, served up by us with the help of some of our good friends.
For the first release we welcome MELD boss Mod-R, who sets the tone for the series with Jury: four tracks carefully selected with dark rooms and big sound systems in mind. The release spans a range of percussive, breaks-fuelled workouts that vary in tempo but are aligned by a distinctive UK feel that runs through the DNA of each track.
Every track has its own nod to the clubs from which they were inspired. From the classic samples used in Capacitive and Long Way from London that bring you back to the hazy days of warehouse raves, to the chopped-up breaks and weighty bass compositions of Jury and Mandate that make this release a real heads down affair.
Wrapping up the release is Maya Q on remix duties, who flips the title track with a refined, UK funky laced twist, chopping up the melody to provide a change of style and pace on the release.

Is it a dream, a Jungian fantasy, a deep dive into the repressed psyche? Is it a malfunction? Or is it the one place where you can escape from the repetitive drone of the hive mind?

"Interlink: A" is the debut release from Unimatrix Zero, a collection of tracks for on and off the dancefloor from our friends across the North American dance music community.

Detroit-via-Ithaca's Otodojo provides a buoyant, aquatic and soothing entry point, remixing and completing track sketch "Unimatrix" from label co-founder Lychee. Portland's Braun picks up the energy with bright, skittering dub techno in "Slipstream," a track as ready for peak time as it is for a dreamy sunrise. Recent NYC transplant Sister Zo, with roots in Kansas City and Columbus, Ohio, brings the low-swung, percussive wiggle in "Mess Around," a slickly lubricated mechanical trip. NYC's Blacklauren, half of the Long Count Cycle, delivers a euphoric wormhole in "Teocalli," defly tempering tension and comfort. NYC favorite Kenya Kanazawa, with roots in Yamagata and Tokyo, evokes a dewy forest at dawn in delicate dubby reverie "Fog in the Floor." Label co-founder Guilt Attendant's contemplative closer, "Their Soul Thirsts in the Desert", is a track for yearning; what is the thing you are pining for that you aren't even sure you can recall?

All proceeds from this release in the first year will be donated to Synth Library NYC to help provide access to music technology equipment for people of all experience levels and economic means in NYC: www.synthlibrarynyc.org

Between 1 April 2022 and 30 September 2022, food banks in the Trussell Trust’s UK-wide network distributed 1.3 million food parcels to people facing hardship – this is an increase of 52% compared to the same period in 2019. Half a million of these parcels were distributed to children. The charity says that for the first time, need for emergency food is outstripping donations as the cost of living emergency is leading to a drastic increase in the number of people turning to food banks for support.

With this situation being more urgent than ever, Vief are delighted to announce their 2nd charity compilation will be raising funds for the Trussell Trust. Not only providing incredibly vital, immediate support to people facing hardship, the charity also works tirelessly towards the goal of ending the need for food bank in the UK.

Spanning genres and tempos, reticulation stands as the label’s most ambitious project to date, and owes its thanks to the immense talent and generosity of the 20 producers involved.

Shauna makes her second appearance on the label with this hard hitting and punchy jungle track.

No Edyth record is complete without a homage to the Dub roots that set off the project. Mercenary (Ambulance) is a track not missing its share of effects, all flushing out the warbly ambient pads and guitars that struggle to keep up with a classic sampled breakbeat rhythm, chopped down and about for the dancefloor. Unexpected is the female punk yelling resonating in between the elements, struggling to stay on-top of it all.

About Bare III :
The desert breeds resilience. At a point marking so much loss and devastation, to the everyday comrade as well as any musician, this ability to outlast becomes a point of contention within the discourse of Man and, with many other themes, within Bare III. Where my 2019 LP Bare II was a colorful assemblage of sci-fi- influenced experiments meant to build upon the prior two EPs Bare I and Agua Verde, Bare III is a shorter but more carefully-crafted meditation on death.

This is not to say this record is meant to be a deconstruction of modern electronic genres. I’ve always had my affinity for contemporary Dance music as well as my own love for late 90s/early 2000s sonics so this is my most recent attempt at bringing together all that I love, not attempting to push the envelope. Bare III doubles as a quiet love letter to many records from 20 years ago that continue to influence my listening today: 100th Window by Massive Attack, Geogaddi by Boards of Canada, Deftones’ self-titled album and many of the records released by Raster Noton.

About Edyth:
A music project by me, Sudanese musician Mohamed Abnaof (AKA Gold Plates) that continually explores Dub-influenced atmospheres as well as Future Bass, Dance and Noise. Edyth’s records have been received well by many outlets since 2016 such as Pigeons & Planes, Earmilk, TRAX, Tsugi, Thump as well as many others. I use Ableton Live.
