This is a tale that veers dangerously into maudlin territory time and again. Where it falls very short of the mark is in portraying some rawness, some grit that would make it hit those many emotional chords that realms do with such aplomb. Cherry went to some length to pluck on heart strings with a story line concerning a once-vibrant city zoo now fallen into disrepair, one of its main attractions, Dinov, a gentle, placid goblin now in a perpetual sad sack state. This sounds like just the right formula for a memorable tear-jerker, but little-to-no high drama translates to a story that's as flat as 12-day old cola, with about as much bite.
