It’s time you got to know Kurt Stevens; the Florida native bringing his own brand of chilled-out South Florida beach vibes to the rough backroad sounds of Nashville. Stevens has been turning heads on the local circuit and proving himself ready for the big leagues. His track ‘I Already Know’ landed straight on Spotify’s ‘New Boots’ playlist; he has been drawing crowds headlining at the Martin County Fair, Indian River County Fair, and Hooked on Music Festival; as well as opening up for name acts like Dustin Lynch, The Band Perry, Maren Morris, and Luke Combs.
“I grew up in a musical house,” he says of his origins, “I’ve been playing and listening to music almost as long as I can remember.” At just four years old he began training as a classical pianist under the tutelage of internationally renowned Maestro Harold Brown. He won awards at a state and national level, but other influences began to draw him. “I learned to sing when I was about four or five years old by singing along to Elvis,” he reminisces, “and my dad always had music playing... Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, The Eagles, Lynyrd Skynyrd, AC/DC...” These singers and bands piqued his interest in the popular and country genre, prompting Stevens to teach himself to play guitar and begin performing at school talent shows.
However the moment that cemented his future came from the last place he would have expected. “My mom had this friend Terri. She’d always come over and listen to me play and encourage me. I wasn’t playing for a lot of people publicly at that time,” Stevens recounts, “She’d beat cancer, but...” Stevens and his family were shocked and heartbroken when Terri revealed that her cancer had returned. “She kept it a secret until right at the end,” he explains, “she asked me to play at her service. She said ‘This is the greatest gift I’ll ever give you.’ For a whole I wondered what she meant.” Stevens performed John Lennon’s ‘Imagine’ and rewrote and played ‘Candle in the Wind’ for Terri. “I was so nervous my hands were shaking,” remembers Stevens, “but afterwards everyone told me how beautiful it was. We were all crying... I’ve never been nervous playing publicly since, and I realized what she meant regarding her "greatest gift to me", I now knew exactly what I wanted to do with my life..”
From there Kurt started building a performance routine. As he studied at Florida State University he started playing regularly at local bars like Potbelly’s ; stacking up a repertoire of songs; writing his own material; and eventually putting together a band. “A week after graduating I moved to Nashville,” he chronicles, “and since then I’ve been living this life.” Stevens now tours regularly, writing and co-writing all over town, and walking the walk of a musician on the rise.
Asked about his style of music, Stevens refuses to be pigeon-holed. “I have so many influences... at a certain point... it’s just me,” he goes on, “Good music is about an emotional reaction. Whether it’s about the good times, being with friends on a boat, or it’s about heartbreak... It has to be honest enough that the listener feels it.” When he’s not writing and performing, Stevens, ever the Floridian, always likes to come back to the sea. “My passion is being outside on the water. Fishing and surfing...” he expresses smoothly, “There’s something about the ocean. No matter what you’re going through, you go out on the ocean, you feel how small you are. How small your problems really are against this vastness. It’s humbling and grounding.”

Jesse released his debut album “I’m Not like Everybody Else” in June 2018 which has been noted as “fusing the soul of rock's past with the bombast of its present”. He continues to create a rock and roll buzz and has gained fans from all over the world who are captivated by his raw, genuine and undeniable talent.
