Rebecca Goldberg is a multidisciplinary artist from Detroit who combines her skills in the musical and visual arts to craft a lane entirely of her own. For this release, she invites her friend Jon Dixon to join her and the results capture each of their signature sounds, weaving them together into something new. 

Rebecca met Jon in 2017, and was responsible for designing the artwork on Jon’s 4evr 4wrd label releases. This led to Jon showing Rebecca around the keyboard so she could learn how to play the theme from Westworld. Eventually, after a few years, she decided it was time to suggest they collaborate on some music. The result of that collaboration is the track “Our Morning”, which is now being introduced into the world on this very special release. 

Kicking off with hazy strings and a broken 909 beat, “Our Morning” creates an atmosphere of anticipation. As elements are added the tension builds, with melodic snippets slipping over and under one another. Acid tweaks slowly start to intensify, ushering in an explosion of pure hi-tech soul at the track’s peak. If sunlight breaking through clouds had a musical accompaniment, this would be it. Jon’s melodic and harmonic sensibilities mesh wonderfully with Rebecca’s machine groove, splashing the dancefloor with optimism in these trying times. After that release, the come down is handled elegantly, bringing reality slowly but surely back, while we bask in the warm glow of the journey just completed. 

Music this special deserves a special presentation, and Rebecca’s devotion to creativity in all aspects of her work shines through here. An excerpt of “Our Morning” is etched into a 5”x7” flexidisc postcard that you can play on a turntable, which features the work of local photographer Ryan Southen. The Ambassador Bridge stands in the foreground, connecting Detroit and Windsor, with the cities lurking in the back. The postcard is limited to 250 numbered copies, and purchase includes a high-quality digital file download of the full track.

‘Mind Fiction’, Kaczor's first release on his new imprint, comes with organic artwork such as a growing plant cover and simple yet sleek Thai design inspired by a recent tour to Southeast Asia. The EP serves as a perfect example for Kaczor's own artistic vision: Moody textures and mellower grooves meeting his trademark raw and gritty, forceful attack-laden release of rolling drums, bass and percussion, pointing to Kaczor's own roots in the more stormy outbacks of broken beats or uk bass.

First track ‘Balance’ starts off with a softer, textured soundscape, nicely balancing melancholy synth waves and drum rattles into an atmospheric opener with a slowly oncoming and unfurling, melodic twist.

The title track ‘Mind Fiction’ more closely follows Kaczors very own signature formula of a simple and driving bassline followed by an evocative build-up rushing into an emotional, cathartic breakdown.

‘Asta’ might be Kazcor's most daring and trippy production to date: An intense mixture between hypnotic, hard hitting thumps and thunderous rolling drums taking the listener into the electrifying whirl of a night-time storm, where the tense and dense, humid atmosphere culminates in a monsoon-like rainfall of spiralling reverb – marking a fitting crescendo for this impressive debut on Kaczor's now very own sonic ground.

Premiere: Ara-u & Radioactive Man 'Failure to Communicate'

Managed and curated by Andy Green an old head, dancer, clubber, collector for 30 years. The label  now firmly established with a back-cat of respected 12’s and a compilation. The ambition of the vinyl releases is to release honest and interesting music across the spectrum of deep with no regard for trend or fashion : good music being ageless. This latest release is the 2nd of 2019 following on from the Receptor Theory EP which sold out rapidly. Joe Lucas creates music under a few monikers, most often as Causa and notably has appeared on Tusk Wax, Boogie Box and Birdie. The Causa sound elegantly touches on deep house grooves and melodic techno but with a fluid, contemporary style and is an obvious choice for the Verdant family. The Locks EP is released as Sixtyone leaning towards Detroit flavours with intricate percussion layered with warm soulful keys. Previous releases have attracted high profile remixes from Kuniyuki, Luv Jam and Young Marco and that trend continues on the Locks. On the flip, Stojche is back from his contribution to the Verdant double LP to slam a burly, peak time reshape of Zelo upping the Detroit vibes. Hiver's melodic, acid tinged releases have been a regular fixture on Andy’s own mixes so its big honour to have them join the Verdant team here. Their reshape of the delicate Tregnanton, adds a firm kick, swinging bassline and heady 303 sparkle wth dazzling effectiveness.

Rebecca Goldberg is a producer, live performer, DJ and designer from Detroit. Since her debut EP, 313 Acid Queen, she has been affiliated with the multidisciplinary arts collective, Detroit Underground. She has released high-quality music and multimedia projects spanning acid techno to experimental electronic music. Carrying with her the tradition of Detroit Techno, Goldberg tours internationally as a DJ and live performer. Rebecca is a seasoned radio DJ having mixed for FM and internet-radio shows hosted across the globe. She has been featured at notable events from Detroit’s seminal Movement Festival to Tresor in Berlin.

In her live show, Rebecca focuses on sound design and the improvisational capabilities of working with electronic instruments. The result is her presentation of an energetic array of lush techno soundscapes. In early 2023 she produced a show called Upphljómun during the Reykjavík Winter Lights Festival to showcase live performances
from herself and several Icelandic artists. The event led to her penning an editorial piece published by Roland Corporation. Goldberg often incorporates original field recordings into her work. In 2022 the New BBC Radiophonic Workshop released a selection of recordings she took throughout her native Michigan for their Travel Agency project. Goldberg has written original scores for classic films, “Le Voyage Dans La Lune” and “Gojira,” which included live performances at Silencio, David Lynch’s members-only club in Paris, and Armageddon Beachparty in Detroit.

With several EPs, remixes and live releases under her belt, Goldberg has refined her style while allowing her audience to discover and appreciate her unique sound. Her dedication to keeping Detroit techno music innovative is her motivating force.
