Formed in 2014, Nowhere Boys is a group of independent musicians collaborating with each other in search of a new cinematic rock sound. Members include singer-songwriter Van Chan, jazz drummer Nate Wong, guitar expert Kenneth Angus, psychedelic pianist/ violinist Fisher Kan and all-round bassist/ instrumentalist Hansun Chan. Their music covers a wide range of cinematic stories - from childhood fear towards cockroaches, to fantasies of living in science fictions.

Biography:

Christopher Lai is the product of modern day eclecticism: he is a composer, songwriter, producer, arranger, disc jockey, and co-founder of Zepa Records.

As a film composer, he has scored multiple award winning short films by upcoming directors in Hong Kong. In 2021, he scored 3 films that competed in the 2021 Freshwave International Short Film Festival - one of which, Ateh, was awarded the prestigious ‘Special Mention Award’ and ‘Audience Award’.  

Christopher has also won the ‘UCompose 2021’ competition hosted by Universal Production Music, whereby his composition will be included in an album release with the world’s largest production library.  He is now officially part of the roster of composers in the Universal family.  

With the Sun Eskimos - in which he was the guitarist and co-composer, the band's single reached #1 on the RTHK 903 charts, and together they have performed at venues such as Clockenflap, the Fringe Club and the RTHK 903 Music Festival in Hong Kong. 

As a DJ, he has performed at various leading radio stations, venues and festivals including Fauve Radio, Hong Kong Community Radio, Potato Head, the Art of the Wild Festival and the Shi Fu Miz Autumn Edition in 2019. Christopher is currently working on an EP for another side project, Pora.  Stay tuned.
