Johannes Heil & Len Faki - Maniac

Adam Beyer’s new EP titled ‘Teach Me’ is an accomplished piece of work that highlights Beyer's year thus far. 'Teach Me' starts with some eerie chords before the distinctive vocal kick in and the track drops into a rumbling techno track. ‘Darlek’ uses rhythmic beeps and huge synth stab to create a funky rhythm before the atmospheric pads create a beautiful setting for this incredible techno track. ‘Stop Talking’ is a deeper offering from Beyer using weird and unusual noises to create and interesting piece of work that is helped along by the throbbing bass underlying in the track. ‘Spaceman’ uses a rhythmic vocal, percussion and sub bass to turn this track into a funky techno piece.

Faki and Heil team up again for the third installment in their collaboration series. Well known for their high production values and unique ability to capture the kind of intense energy needed on the dancefloor, Vol. III sees the two masters on top form again.

A devilish combination of weighty break-beats, clattering old-school snares and static electricity, ‘Perception’ takes a spoken word sound-byte and twists it into a monstrous beast, filtering and snaking over 7 minutes. Perhaps their most intense club moment crafted together so far, Faki and Heil bring all their years of experience and love for their art to the table. A useful acapella version is included here too, for DJs who know!

A welcome return to some of the pair’s classic studio hardware, ‘Happy 808’ shows off masterful drum programming, coupled with a super-spacey mixdown, that elevates the 808 to new extremes. Using beautifully crafted distortion and reverb spaces, and coupled with a constantly moving arrangement, its hard to put this one down.

Perception SNIPPET

As Figure begins to move into the next chapter of its label history, label founder Len Faki has teamed up with young French talent Roman Poncet for the 54th release. Poncet's debut on the label dropped last year with the excellent 'Cerate' cutting a clear path for his precisely executed modern techno sound. 

Teaming up in the studio, Faki and Poncet have crafted 'Asua' - a mesmerising display of production skill and a testament to the duo's true understanding of hypnosis. Pushing from the start with its urgent bassline the track builds and morphs its intertwining elements, introducing subtle textures and suggestions of melody - a classic Figure late night ritual. 

Alongside, we have original tracks from both Len Faki and Roman themselves. Faki's thunderous and aptly titled 'Stripped' works his powerhouse percussion along with a textured dub-stab in this straight up club trip. 

Finally with 'Truck' Roman Poncet completes the EP, his rough synth stabs and metallic percussion driving this moody tension builder ever forward.

Like rare split EPs from record labels in the past, each label takes control of one side of the vinyl for a double-sided release. With high mutual admiration between both labels, it was inevitable that a project like this was bound to happen. For this special occasion, we offer a full-sleeve cover with amazing photography from Sander Meisner.

On the first release, label owners Dustin Zahn and Emmanuel each picked two of their favorite tracks from each other. “Bark Like a Dog…” has already received regular play from Truncate and “Cargo” has been a secret weapon among DJs such as Zahn and Rodhad for the better part of a year.

Belgian techno architect and Mixmag's October 2018 cover star Amelie Lens gears up to deliver the third release on her freshly minted LENSKE imprint, 'Basiel'. Named after her godchild, the three-track EP is loaded with tumultuous timbres and stormy tones that make for destructive dancefloor behavior.

Ahead of the EP's release on November 23, Amelie Lens has shared the EP cut, 'Energize'. A track that does exactly what it calls itself, the fierce rhythm of the tune's drums in conjunction with Lens' permeating mantra urges clubland revelers to bring more power to their enviorment.

SLV’s ‘Berlin. A Portrait In Music’ album on Soma receives a string of remixes from Setaoc Mass, Stanislav Tolkachev, Conforce, as well as a VIP mix from SLV himself. Hailing from Berlin, SLV is well respected for his melancholic sound design and crystalline soundscapes having released on labels like Ilario Alicante’s Virgo and Slam’s Soma. Following the release of SLV’s ambient ‘Berlin. A Portrait In Music’ album, Slam’s iconic label has invited a powerful selection of techno producers to reimagine a handful of tracks; Figure, Clergy and Work Them Records producer Setaoc Mass; Ukraine’s master of mind-bending techno, Stanislav Tolkachev; and also Delsin regular Conforce. ‘Dust’ by SK_Eleven founder Setaoc Mass brings melodic flare with enveloping synths above dark rumbling lows, before SLV’s injects some energy into ‘Talking With The Shadows’ with his own Rave Mix. incorporating moody tones and slow flowing arps with dark cavernous reverb. Krill and Mord artist Stanislav Tolkachev then offers a steady beat with euphoric chimes and vinyl hiss for his stripped back ‘First Day In The City’, preceding Dutch artist Conforce’s ‘Forest Voices’ which balances unearthly sound design and a steppy drum pattern.

Rabe drops it’s fourth release right before summer with a fresh combinations of sounds and artists that inspire Denise in one way or another. Release Info: 
Volume two of Teenage Mutants longest release to date carries on the suspended tension from the previous volume into a melodic resolution. First track 'Organica', a collaboration with DJ and producer Heerhorst and Aves Volare showcases a new dimension of the artists style, with the low sung vocals sustaining the enchanting harmony of the main pads. Its fairly easy to see how the entire album is aimed squarely at the dancefloor, with compelling slow burners like 'Dawn' or 'Verboten' ready to arrest any audience. Meanwhile, darker cuts like palpitation-inducing Hype or undulating roller Tehdite are meant to thrust the ambiance to the next level. Joined by Bulgarian techno advocate, the duo rounds off the volume with flair, making it a great addition to the variety of moods offered.
