MNMT Recordings: Kangding Ray — Paral·lel Festival 2022

This was the last two hours of my opening set for @kicks-hugs-berlin at Renate back in December, unfortunately the recorder didn't catch the beginning of the set so we just jump straight in to the groove.

Svreca, hailing from Madrid, is a prominent DJ and the mastermind behind Semantica (@semantica-records), a renowned techno label. His sets are celebrated for their experimental nature and slow evolution, blending elements of both listening and club music without concern for current trends. Whether it's his own productions or those he commissions, Svreca consistently maintains a high standard of quality. He's a prominent figure on the global techno circuit, gracing iconic venues such as Tresor and Berghain, as well as featuring at festivals worldwide, including the prestigious Labyrinth Festival in Japan. Semantica has served as a platform for heavyweight artists such as Surgeon, Oscar Mulero, Regis, and Donato Dozzy, as well as emerging talents like Acronym, Stanislav Tolkachev, Abdulla Rashim, Shifted, and Varg, among others. Svreca has been sharpening his vision through his own label, while also collaborating and recording for esteemed labels like Jealous God, Warm Up Recordings, and Spazio Disponibile.

This HOCast refers to the first hour of the DJ set during the closing set of the HIRU night.

Hailing from Norway, Bulgarian-born DJ and producer Kameliia quickly gained attention with multiple standout releases on labels such as SK_eleven, AMTK+, WSNWG and more. Her tracks often consist of deep intricate ambiances layered over rolling and thumping kick drums and baselines. To put it in Hard Wax’s words: "Highly effective, forward driving Techno.”

For MNMT 424 Kameliia presents a meticulously crafted, high octane 60-minute trip of tunnelling grooves, radiant melodies and rolling intensity.

Rather known for his sci fi techno releases on renowned labels like Token or Mote Evolver, the Spanish DJ and Producer ORBE (@orbeartist) crafted something different yet not less remarkable for our podcast series. For the selection he went back to where it all started for him musically and recorded a mix consisting of trippy breakbeats and dirty electro. Maravilloso!

UNTAPE024 – ORBE

2018’s chilled-out Kiran LP was a first step towards Konduku’s inevitable fate as electronic music producer par excellence. The Dutch performer’s right brain rhythms were perhaps aptly timed, touching a spot made tender by the period of introspection forced upon us by an unprecedented global pandemic. These were spartan experiments in sound that reverberated within the cavernous space isolation prised open but didn’t stay that way for long. With the return to normality came another side to Konduku’s work, productions and real-time sets that focused on a heavier, more techno-leaning sound; though they still took inspiration from bass, sometimes house, and the plangent loops of mid-2000s Italian hypnotica. These beats found a perfect home on Spazio Disponibile, Delsin’s Mantis as well as DJ Nobu’s Bitta label, and even claimed a sublabel all his own on Rotterdam’s Nous'klaer Audio, the music and photography outlet K Series. A highly satisfying alliance of liquid basslines and layered echoes put his name on the rise, and today his relentlessly chugging and nimble beats are very much a known quantity, a unique and welcome proponent for cerebral, subaqueous loops. Bassiani Podcast 223 is top-form Konduku recorded live at the club back in May, three hours of forward-thinking techno that’s thick with ideas and rattling rhythms, far-out frequencies for the temporal lobe that surprise at every turn.
