For Secret Thirteen journal we have worked on a special slowed down techno recording in the spirit of the live sets we have did for Polar Inertia’s recent exhibitions in Brussels and CCA, Tbilisi.

A couple of months ago we have changed all our gear and equipment, and collected new machines but somehow never had enough time to meet altogether and wire them. Finally, we have decided to hook up our new musical gear and equipment to improvise the future of Polar Inertia’s sound.

It was one of those studio jams you do not want to rush to. We took our time. Slowed down the tempo to 112 bpm and sent all synths through a multitrack recorder to catch every moment of the jam session. During hours of knob twisting we went through several states of mind and different styles.

What we are sharing with Secret Thirteen readers is an edited version of what happened that night.

Having released his debut Ground Ep last year, more releases are scheduled for 2015 on Modal Analysis, his new imprint Vanila and AnD's Inner Surface Records.

Will and Persistence against Vitamin B Deficit
Masses over masses try themselves at being a DJ and in the production of techno. Being a newcomer in this overcrowded market doesn't seem appealing at first sight. Putting in a lot of effort to establish one's reputation is not everyone's cup of tea. To stand out of the masses one must buckle down or have the proper Vitamin B. When Vitamins are lacking, what especially counts are a strong will and persistence. Those are guarantors for the opportunity to exhibit one's talent eventually. The rise of Krenzlin followed this principle on one of the surest Newcomer-Floors in the world. After Sebastian Krenzlin started DJing in 2003, it took several years for him to eventually be discovered as a newcomer after his participation at the Tresor Award of Pacou in 2009. Since he played in the Tresor for the first time in September 2010, he is counted among the steady Ensemble of Berlin's legendary club.
With the series of events „New Faces“ and three allies he forms a platform for the performance of new faces. Every first Wednesday in the month he starts his own special event under this flag seeking for new talents who impersonate this spirit.
Even as a producer Krenzlin build up a reputation since 2011. If one reads the list of labels under which he has released since, it is hard to believe that such a fantastic discography can be formed in this short amount of time. With Synewave,Nachtstrom Schallplatten,Driving Forces Recordings,Starkstrom Schallplatten, Mastertraxx Records, Slap Jaxx or IF?Records the best pools for exceptional, underground profiles of techno-acts of the last years string together. In the spring of 2012 a co-production with 88uw and Synewave followed and came like a bombshell exactly like the one countless times before in the Tresor...

UVB is the pseudonym of the French DJ and producer Sébastien Michel. He grew up with the passion for music and focused his attention on electronic music in 2011 when he first decided to start producing .

In the meantime, he started his DJ project in his home city, Marseille, playing in underground places and delivering his own vision of Techno Music. Late 2012, he worked on several music projects in different styles of electronic music which comforted him in his choice for raw and hard tones.

In 2013, UVB concentrated on his techno project, started to develop his own version of a live which is a dj set only composed of his own productions, and played it at clubs in Berlin (Urban Spree, Tresor). His first EP was released on the Rotterdam based label MORD Records in June 2014 and has been supported by some of the biggest names of the Techno scene such as Surgeon, Marcel Dettmann, Lucy or even Tommy Four Seven. UVB’s sound combines energetics tones with intricate rhythms, and always focuses on a true rave feeling by its functionality and its rawness.

Rebekah capture’s and share’s her energy through her DJ sets, this can also be found within the studio where she expresses herself using concepts, feelings, moods, art and anything else that inspires her on a deep level, always aiming to create fresh music with a modern feel.

The emphasis will always be techno which has been inspired from her early teens by growing up in Birmingham UK and being exposed to almighty parties such as Atomic Jam and House of God which held long standing parties within the city. Inspired by Dave Clarke, Derrick Carter, Richie Hawtin and Billy Nasty in those early days gave Rebekah a true insight to
90’s UK techno with a good measure of jackin’ Chicago thrown in!

The past few years has seen the rapid rise of Rebekah’s profile by showcasing her own style of modern techno, which has been accepted by her peers as well as techno fans around the world. This reflection of the studio work and passion fueled sets has lead to a busy schedule of gigs. Playing at established venues, parties and festivals such as Berghain, Tresor, Cocorico, Fabric, Awakenings, Tomorrowland, Studio 80 to name a few.

A CLR artist, Rebekah has already been accepted into Chris Liebing’s fold, and found her place by mixing a compilation using the back catalogue of CLR music under the Reconnected Series as well as her first EP on this influential label. Cycles came out in 2013 stamping her signature tough techno sound within CLR. She is also a regular feature at the CLR parties around the World. Summer 2014 will see the launch of CLR’s first full mix compilation, which Rebekah has been asked to kick off. This will feature CLR tracks as well as a selection of music from other labels and 8 exclusive tracks from various artists to make up the compilation. A second EP is also due towards the end of 2014.

The dynamic nature of Rebekah’s musical influence is featured on her second release due out on Cult Figures, showcasing more of an underground feel, also with releases on Coincidence Records capturing a deeper and more soulful side to her productions, and highlighting the varying moods and ideas with which Rebekah can create with.

Choosing to work on original music predominantly, remixes are far and few between, choosing tracks on the basis of their sound selections and design, in June 2014 a remix is out on Sleaze for Hans Bouffmyhre, the EP consists of his previous album tracks lovingly remixed by Oscar Mulero, Girgio Gigli, Rebekah and Hans himself. This remix will also be followed by a full release on Sleaze in October.

Armed with a full release schedule and a packed tour diary, the future is definitely bright for this little lady of Techno. Anyone that has seen her play out live knows first hand that there are no gimmicks or clichés about this Producer/DJ, just unadulterated raw talent and a passion for the music she plays and creates.

Cleric runs the Clergy label, is a regular on Figure and new record on Soma Records is out now. As for Reflec, his next release should be dropping around late October again on Clergy.

Wünsch has been an influential figure in the electronic music scene for over twenty years with an arsenal of unique sonic trademarks produced with high precision. His distinctive energetic and cyclic techno, already featured within his sound palette, and a subliminal Soul component have become his trademark. With 2 Albums and more than 100 releases on various labels such as PoleGroup, Soma records, Infrastructure NY, Semantica, Children of Tomorrow, Token, Nachtstrom Schallplatten, Theory, Music Man, etc…including a variety of remixes, he has become a worldwide reference in his field. Proof of his production skills can be seen on his remarkable remix CV, working with the biggest names in techno (Surgeon, Regis, Mike Parker, Reeko…), and most recently artists such Funk D´void and Percy X from Soma records, etc. Wünsch’s hardwork has earned him a position on the line ups of the best clubs and festivals all over the world. With an impeccable career, this international artist has made a name for himself with dark and abstract atmospheric sounds, becoming one of the producers, whose name has appeared all over the world on the labels and charts of other great artists. Christian was one of the founders of Polegroup, and he was also one half of the ´Spherical Coordinates´ with Oscar Mulero. His labels Tsunami Records and Nine are indispensable parts of any respectable record collection.

This Live set was recorded some time ago at somewhere near Paris. It was a mysterious night, only those who were there know about this.

Polar Inertia is a hazy and oracular entity, that positions itself as a
complex faction whose work is influenced by the sci-fi mythology surrounding techno music.
Since its creation, Polar Inertia multiplies various artistic collaborations, which are gradually incorporated in the thick fog that conceals
dissimulate the exact nature and extent of its activities.
Beyond the music and the records, the members of Polar Inertia are also the authors of texts, photographic works, printed artworks and specific live performances for different context.
They have often been invited to contribute to various revues, editions or art books. Their course of creation thus takes the direction of a polymorphic artistic process, bound to evolve in various fields of contemporary creation.
