[WRK042] Various Artists - Rise Down Remixes • Preview

MÉTIER is the new label from Jack! Who? and his UK based deathtechno.com project that is set to journey into deep, dreamy, dub, techno, acid, electro and ambient that will surprise and delight from release to release.

Collage artwork images are by local artist Grassi Art.

Reveillon is a collaboration by Argentinian artists Dist and Gestalt who own Gomboc Records. Releasing music since 2017, they create expansive takes on techno sounds from ambient to industrial and everything in between.

"Solace" opens the release as a dystopian looking-glass with sci-fi atmospherics and deep, haunting chords that add a rich, cinematic ambience.

The title track "Moment of Clarity" steps things up to stellar new heights while continuing the spacey vibe. Injecting more thump and an ethereal feeling, this sparse masterpiece has an emotional essence.

PREMIERE: Reveillon - Solace [MÉTIER]

Locked and loaded, here comes the next salvo in RYC’s line of action. Going by the name “Heimat” - the German word for “homeland”, this eighteenth number in our catalogue breaks in a new series that will set the focus on exciting new names with a vision. Zeitgeisty by nature, the approach chosen for these VAs is to document state-of-the-art productions from lesser known and emerging figures, whose skills and talent we firmly believe in. An extension of our creed that techno is there to push boundaries and not reiterate the same bland assertions over and over, ad nauseam, “Heimat” shall form a shelter for top-of-the-range material and that exclusively, regardless of the producer’s fame, level of fashionability and/or market-friendliness.

Summoned on that debut platter are names you may have heard through our channels already, and some you haven’t. Drawing first blood, Brazilian talent Marcal gets the wrecking-ball swinging at fierce rate. Engineering an inch-perfect balance between Amazonian suavity and cutting-edge industrialism, the Goiânia-based whiz treats us to a mind-altering maelstrom of rainforest techno, leaving no room for improvisation whether on the rhythmic side or in terms of sound design. An absolute crusher. Another Brazilian completes the A-side, in the person of Nicolas Vogler. His track “Lost in Paradiso” is everything a mental techno pumper should be: nose-diving drum assaults, pools of lavish textures to sink your brain within, spiralling synth motifs. Epic, truly.

Mysterious on-the-rise producer Hurdslenk takes over the flip with a mammoth of a fast-paced churner, designed at nothing but sweeping legs by the dozen. True to the early 00s hi-NRG strain of techno, Hurdslenk fractures his way into the system with a proper bomb of a tune, hovering the cursor halfway Birmingham-style sonic aggression and made in Rotterdam warehouse-obliteration. Final word goes to mould.audio’s Ruben Ganev, an artist who knows all too well how to fly you off to the zone with a mere kick and surgically processed machine hoodoo with a purpose. Laser-precise and full-bodied, “Scattered” is the paragon of a masterful hypnotic ride, steering us smack-dab the middle of a weirdly claustrophobic dream with the right amount of daze-inducing envelopes and fuel-efficient percussive power.

“Heimat” comes pressed to a 100% orange transparent vinyl, and clad in a pristine, matt varnished package to please your eyes and ears in equal measure.

Various Artists - Collisioni Sonore Pt.1 UP002

After emerging in spring, Unità Psicofisica takes a further step towards exploring Music as a matter of perception with its second output, “Collisioni Sonore”, which widens the already disclosed principles of the label, celebrating the oneness of body and mind. Combining the individual efforts of four artists whose musical output lies in the most ritualistic and awareness-expanding side of techno, “Collisioni Sonore” proves how collision might generate harmony.
Swedish producer and musical shaman Korridor opens the ceremony with “Geotetra”, a pulsating crescendo of metallic tones and ethereal echoes which drill a tunnel through time and space. “Quantum Decay”, courtesy of Italian mind PRG/M, takes over with its dystopian atmosphere, evoked by a finely organized (de)construction of abrasive textures and sharp-edged sounds. B-side breaks in with “Umalog”, a brain-frying, polyrhythmic excursion, meticulously crafted by French artist Von Grall, who manages to blend a ravishing energy infusion with a subtle tint of urban melancholy. Konstrukt’s label founder SHLTR closes the release with the eerie and intense “Pashupatinath”, a purifying drift into beatless territories, guiding the emotional reconnection with the Self at the end of the inward trip.

Back with its tenth iteration in near half a decade of intense activity, the Rotterdam-via-Berlin based outlet is set to enter a new aesthetic cycle, sloughing its old skin for a brighter, all the more edgy one. Not content with counting some of the finest names in today's techno landscape on board in the persons of Oscar Mulero, Psyk, Sterac and Dimi Angélis, 'RYCL010 – Amsterdam/Madrid' is the occasion for Reclaim Your City to take a new breath and explore deeper the intrinsic values and key-words that make for the label's very raison d'être: music, energy, action, city, quality, art, underground, activism, rebellion, global community.  
 
A galvanizing slab of pumping 4/4 delicacies primed for extended dancefloor use - deftly navigating between deep-diving dubs (Psyk), nasty acid mechs (Sterac), proper brain-melting droney moves (Oscar Mulero) and off-axis bleepy stompers (Dimi Angélis), 'RYCL010' inaugurates the label's newly-forged design signature, made of a combination of urban photography and a custom-made font, which will be a new trademark for the project and used for all future releases, radioshows and events, whilst tracing the contours to the label's ever ambitious, next-level approach towards techno music. A way for RYC to openly declare its aspirations and goals, in letting people know that quality, passion and the love for sharing the music is all that matters.

RYCL010 - Psyk - Organic

Evod and Oisel are back on limited catalog with a split vinyl release. Evod's A1 is a minimal, elegant and clean track, characterized by a simple, yet deep, melody. Drums are linear like the structure of the track, perfect for this kind of refined work. A2, on the other hand, is a dancefloor oriented track, fiery right from the start. Various piano sequences intersect with powerful 909 drums, recalling the original 90’s style. A3 is a perfect tool : a shattered piano melody changes constantly on a 4/4 beat, the result is a work that no listener will ever find boring. U4 by Oisel is full of randomic ambient sounds that dialogue with a deep bassline sequence and dynamic drums, resulting in a track that, almost spontaneously, is always changing. As Oisel experiments with different composing styles, U2 is suspended in the void: high frequencies raids, random bells melodies, granulated hi hats, confused samples of dialogues distinguish the track.

Crescent London is a new deep & hypnotic techno label centred on ambient textures and dub elements. For the label launch, the London-based collective put together a 13 track 'Various Artists' compilation of some of their favourite producers. Named "Magnetic Fields", the V/A is focusing on electric atmospheres and textures, locking the listener deep in the groove and the hypnosis. From drone and euphoric atmospheres to detailed broken-techno, the compilation displays a textured view on contemporary techno, elegant and mental, yet ready for the clubs to re-open.
