Following the release of Indonesian experimental duo Senyawa new album “Alkisah”, les ateliers claus and Kiosk Radio are proud to present "Alkisah" REMIXED.The Brussels-based projects are proud to invite Sugai Ken (Japan), Céline Gillain (Belgium), Sagat (Belgium), Tolouse Low Trax (Germany), Dntel (USA) and Front de Cadeaux (Italy/Belgium) to reshape ‘Alkisah’ stories. Through this eclectic selection of artists, Les Ateliers Claus and Kiosk Radio aim to bring a variety of musical genres and shine a different and surprising light on Senyawa’s compositional works. Going from a musique-concrète approach, towards dub, experimental club and dance floor bangers, the Remix LP highlights the timelessness of Senyawa's music.Senyawa's Alkisah was co-released a few weeks ago by 44 independent record labels from all over the globe, in an attempt to decentralise the hierarchical workings of the music industry and its distribution system. Each label partner was given "carte blanche” on artwork, promotion, packaging and number of copies released. The labels involved were also encouraged to include remixes from local artists, leading to hundreds of reinterpretations around the world.“Decentralization should be the future. American indie label File 13 Records released what was already Martin Rev‘s sixth solo album in the autumn of 2003. The previous year, Rev and his musical partner Alan Vega had struck out in a new direction on their "American Supreme" album and Rev’s solo works continued in a similar vein. If "Strangeworld" from the year 2000 actually felt more like a timeless abstract of Martin Rev’s entire spectrum of musical
influences, "To Live", three years later, introduces more contemporary elements, including guitar samples for the first time.

Christoph Dallach, Andreas Dorau and Daniel Jahn present Echo Neuklang, a compilation which explores the question of how Krautrock has influenced generation after generation of musicians since its inception. A contentious genre at the best of times, the music within its spectrum is essentially intangible. The common thread running through it is a compulsion to seek out the new. Beginning in the year 1981 and extending as far as 2023, the music in this collection demonstrates how the idea of what passed for Krautrock in the 1970s has been interpreted or reinterpreted by a diverse array of artists with distinct approaches in the decades which followed, without recourse to any generic conventions.

Veils Of Transformation 1972 - 1980 is a collection of the earliest works of Gregory Kramer, one of the 20th century masters of textural electronic music. This collection is available on CD and cassette with liner notes from Gregory Kramer and Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, who first brought this fascinating work to the attention of Important Records.

Kramer developed a musical language focused on continuous transformation of timbre, yielding a continuity of attention. This musical language, formed of timbral change, is a compelling aesthetic in its own right and a source of meditative experience. The four works on this album share a deep sense of order derived not from organizing pitches or rhythms, but from the evolution of timbre itself.

Gregory Kramer (b. 1952) is a pioneering electronic composer, inventor, researcher, teacher and author. In 1975 he co-founded Electronic Musicmobile, a synthesizer ensemble later renamed Electronic Musicmobile, a series of synthesizer concerts in New York from which he formed the Electronic Art Ensemble, a highly regarded all electronic quartet. His work extended to developing synthesizers and related equipment. Kramer also co-founded the not-for-profit arts organization Harvestworks in New York City. He is recognized as the founding figure of the intensely cross-disciplinary field of data sonification. Since 1980, Kramer teaches Buddhist meditation.

This track was inspired by this week's Disquiet Junto project: Putting the ageing of a stone into music.
Stones can live for a very long time, but there are also external influences on a much shorter time scale. In my composition I included the monotonous phases, but also these external events, and tried to put them into appropriate music.

The next release on Phase Group comes in the form of the debut self-titled album by Carcass Identity, the live mutant-electronics partnership of Bruxelles-based artists Ernesto Gonzalez and Matthieu Levet aka Bear Bones Lay Low and Carrageenan.

Following up their breakthrough 2018 EP on Random Numbers, Carcass Identity present us with 6 tracks of warped, percussive, dub-infused psychedelics, born of live hardware jams and succinct sampling work.

Sonically, this LP takes you from the tension-inspiring but dance floor initiating stutter-chug of ‘Things to Forget,’ through the swelling and trance-inducing percussion ride of ‘Spiraling Paradigm’ before ending the A-side with the dubbed-out metallic IDM of ‘Freedom Principle’. On the flip, ‘Quiet Spectator’ is a masterpiece of dread-in-dub ominosity followed by the haunted machine jam of ‘Kundu Basket’. Finally, ‘Desultory’ presents the LPs “grooviest” moment, a repeating and evolving synth line and drum machine combo holding things together while modulating synths and a pitched-vocal sample come in and out of the mix.

As a collection of tracks, this record illustrates perfectly the prowess over hardware manipulation that these two artists possess after years individually releasing music and performing in DIY spaces across Europe and the world. These are two musicians that we hold in highest regard and we’re thrilled to be releasing their debut album together on Phase Group.
