Exclusive: Voodoos and Taboos - If We Were

The first release on Phonica's newly founded label Phonica AM, curated by staff member Luther Vine, is set to drop in September to ring in some musical autumn madness in four acts. Responsible for the latter is artist duo and label heads of an eponymous imprint Voodoos and Taboos, who deliver a four-tracker that smoothly combines influences across genres, such as (Tech-) House, 90s Breaks and Techno/Electro. The EP's title track, If We Were, comes in with a partly jacking House groove that's compressing character adds a futuristic note as it sounds like one would imagine beats in space that are staggered transmitted. Provided with a spacey and recurring chord sequence as well as supporting pads If We Were is a worthy way to create those early morning vibes on dance floors pooling those emotions that emerge at this specific time in one track  – a quality Phonica AM has dedicated itself to as the label name already suggests and Voodoos and Taboos perfectly turn into practice with this track and EP.

Merkwürdig is thrilled to present you our second VA EP, featuring a lineup of talented artists who are pushing the boundaries of electronic music. Nate S.U, Bodj, OBG Felix Bergleiter & Thomas Grün and Fabiano José come together to deliver a diverse and captivating collection of tracks. 

First up, Nate.SU takes us on a cosmic adventure with „Neutrino". This mesmerizing track combines atmospheric textures with pulsating beats, creating a sense of weightlessness and exploration.

Next, Bodj invites us to explore „Inside Reflux" with his intricate production. The track blends deep grooves with obscure melodies, creating a hypnotic and immersive experience.

Step into the Danceopolis planetary system and travel back in time to the golden era of electronic music, where people danced all night to the hypnotic rhythms of Goa trance. The Eyes of Goa presents a new release that captures the essence of trance music from the early 90s, blending it with a modern twist to create a unique hybrid sound. This EP is a perfect homage to the iconic Goa style, bringing the energy and spirit of that time into the present.

The Altura2000 EP kicks off with Apollo 11, a track that takes you on a lunar mission. With its atmospheric, proto-goa vibes, you'll feel like you're orbiting the moon. Just be careful not to get lost in the swirling acidic basslines before completing your mission and returning to Earth, inspired and transformed by this cosmic journey.

Next up is Altura2000, the title track of the EP. Why the name? Because it symbolizes reaching a higher cosmic state of energy, fueling the power to dance through the night. This track is a perfect fusion of house, techno, and goa style, with fat basslines and uplifting bleeps that will elevate your spirit.

On the B-side, we start with Dancefloor, a high-energy track designed for exactly what its name suggests : igniting the party. With cosmic synth melodies, goa-inspired energy, and an electro-rock twist, this one is a weapon for raising the heat and taking the dancefloor to the next level.

Finally, we close the EP with Disco Robot, a track that guides you through space with a futuristic disco groove reminiscent of Giorgio Moroder. Using the legendary TB-303 for the bassline, this tune evokes visions of a MTV commercial…

Pelican Dub 001 presents a diverse selection of tracks

It kicks off with 'Birth', an immersive opening tune with a desolate forest feel. The EP flows into Pacito and Sucram, two livelier tracks featuring breathy percussion, slimey analog synths and Birdlike FM cry’s.
