Ben Rau has been steadily developing his unique twist on modern house music over the past few years via his Inkal and Meta imprints with heavy hitter support across the board from Seth Troxler to The Black Madonna.
Recent times have seen Ben expand his sonic palette with a rework of Roy Ayers’ classic ‘Holiday’ for the BBE imprint, tapping into a more soul-infused house style as a nod to the original.
Here we see Ben return to Inkal with a new two-tracker and leading is title-track ‘Gravity’ which shifts focus back to raw, swinging drums,dub chords , driving bass and intricately processed modulating synths, all laid out over eight minutes in a dynamically unfolding fashion.
‘Zero G’ then rounds out the package on the flip-side, employing organic percussion, murky bass swells, squelchy 303 licks and hypnotic vocal swells alongside spiralling dub chords to create a subtly blooming dance floor workout.
