It should be considered that lifestyles, activities, fashions, rhythms, measures, and other cycles we ritualised over the past years and decades might have been conducted by biased attitudes. Some of them are based on convenience while taking the path of least resistance. Others have been taken for granted for lack of knowledge of alternatives.

Consequently, taking the chance in times of changes and challenges, it should be reconsidered whether re-synchronizing with archaic sources of vibrancy would promise to be more satisfying. With an arsenal of digital and analogue hardware, this hybrid sound consolidates old and new into something altogether different.
With a healthy back catalogue of vinyl releases on @etui-records and @default-position El Choop aka Harvey Jones - has already made a solid contribution to the UK and europe’s techno landscape. Nor has this contribution gone unnoticed - a past residency at Corsica Studios and a regular slot at the legendary Freerotation Festival, combined with the support from artists such as @mikeschommer, Sven Wiesemann, @andrey-pushkarev and @thor_thule_records shows Jones is on a solid trajectory.

"Music was always my companion from, I suppose, 15. Whatever happens music is the only thing that stays with me and support me at any period of my life. 
I can say that I was initiated to collect music and play it as a DJ by a #Kyiv based club @closer-lesnoyprichal. I'm a scenarist and director and in the club I experienced the power of an abstract emotional narative created by a DJ and a crowd.
I take an approach to music firstly as a listener and explorer more than expert and archivist. I always try to know as little as possible about the particular music I'm going to listen, not to prejudge. I avoid books and films about electronic music as well. What I do is searching for a particular feelings that comes from the music. And then I'm mixing them into emotional stories."

Here Giovanni has delivered us a lengthy almost 2.5-hour journey through a diverse mixture of records from his intriguing collection.

Expect all kinds of sounds from tech-edged house and 4/4 dubby techno oddities through to razor-sharp, electrifying breaks and ravey sounds. It's a really interesting mix bursting with energy, as Giovanni showcases his supreme taste and his raw talent on the decks.

In that time more than any other thing, music was my happy refuge, my personal escape from reality. During that long period as the world stopped, I dug very deeply into different musical genres and the journey that you are about to listen to is one of the results of this research. Francesca's art and architecture inspired show Architextures is back. Tune in for a two-hour musical journey inspired by Brutalism and Brutalist Architecture with tracks by Biosphere, Underworld, Orbital and Air Max ‘97 among many others. 

Brutalism is a style that emerged in the 1950s in post-war Great Britain. Brutalist buildings are characterised by their massive, monolithic and ‘blocky’ appearance with a rigid geometric style and large-scale use of poured concrete. Modular elements were often used to form masses representing specific functional zones, grouped into a unified whole. 
Brutalism became synonymous with the socially progressive housing solutions that architects and town planners promoted as modern ‘streets in the sky’, encouraging an ethos of ‘social utopianism’. 
As high-rise buildings became associated with crime, social deprivation and urban decay, Brutalism was increasingly reviled, and across the UK, many Brutalist buildings were demolished. However, the movement has continued to influence later forms, associated with high-tech architecture and deconstructivism. In recent years, it has been critically reappraised, with certain buildings being seen as architectural landmarks, such as London’s Barbican Centre.

Avenue Red Podcast #176 - Stas Vasilev

@derekcarr has been producing and releasing Detroit-tinged electronic music for almost two decades. He has recently released music on labels such as ‘for those that Knoe’, @subwax-bcn-distribution, ‘Ferox’, @craigie-knowes and @firescopemusic. 
Born and raised in Westmeath, Ireland, Derek got an early taste for finely crafted melodic techno through compilations like Network’s "Bio-Rhythms" and Warp’s "Pioneers of the Hypnotic Groove". Having been a fan of bands such as Kraftwerk and Depeche Mode through his formative years, Derek felt drawn to this new sound coming from Detroit, Sheffield and Leeds.
Recognising the home made ‘punk’ ethos of early ‘Bleep techno’ he began to pick up second hand instruments, initially investing in a cheetah sampler and boss drum machine.
Derek then set about creating his own sound, a sound that owed much to the techno pioneers, B12, the Black Dog, As One, Nexus 21 and Rhythmatic to name but a few.
In 2001 Derek launched his own label "Trident Recordings" and released the "Copper Beech e.p." (the only release to date) a collection of deep soulful techno. Only 500 copies were pressed and it has since become something of a collector’s item.
Subsequent releases on "Digital Soul" and "Geek Records" further cemented Carr’s place amongst a new generation of techno producers that looked to combine soul and melody with electronic dancefloor grooves.
Derek Carr has built a worthy reputation for producing stunning deep techno and delivering quality DJ and Live sets across Europe.
