About "Chains": 

This is a song about the latent power and momentum inside of human beings in the historic struggle for liberation. It was written in an apartment in Eagle Rock, CA in 2019, where I slept on the ground for a few months and worked part time at a taco shop. It was written shortly after I saw Mike Pence initiate a coup with "hola." It's about the revolutionary act of being alive -- and how passion, political fervor, and togetherness can coalesce towards a better world.

To everybody, I hope this finds you well. There’s been a swelling. I know you’ve felt it too. From gaslighted telecasts to sleeping on the floor--we are no beasts of burden. We need these chains no more. We never did.  We need these chains no more. In everybody a pulse is beating against the tide of every ocean. I feel it in me. You feel it in you? And it's been swelling... can't you feel it? In everybody, there is a rushing tide. You feel it in your veins, and I feel it in mine. Engine turning, oil spilling, and your tired shoulders weary. Flora blooming, thorns are growing cause we need these chains no more. Taking streets and breathing lungs. Pumping swelling hearts of blood. Stepping out into the light cause we need these chains no more. We never did. We need these chains no more.

About Red Tank!: 

Since its inception in 2009, Red Tank! has independently released three studio records, a number of splits, singles, and EPs, and performed on various regional tours throughout the United States (on the East Coast, West Coast, and at SXSW). We’ve cultivated a small but loyal fanbase throughout the years with a reliance on DIY ethos and unique and earnest sonic expression. The band has an emphasis on high energy songs and performances, as well as existential and politically-charged lyricism. Our fourth studio record is forthcoming.

DivPro "Surge"

Phoenix-born and Brooklyn-based art punk band Red Tank! release a cover of “Night of the Assassins,” a song originally performed by the Japanese rock band Les Rallizes Dénudés. The noisy and psychedelic-infused garage punk track pays homage to the original with an English-language adaptation. 

Dark lyricism is evocatively sung-shouted over reverb-drenched chaotic guitars and driving drums and bass,  “On a very dark night, it’s like a murder. / What will satisfy your soul?” You can listen to an advance stream of the song here. It will be available on all streaming services Friday, February 26th, 2021.
