Some old easy listening using samples from a movie soundtrack scored by Ryuichi Sakamoto. It’s a genre shift but something I’ve loved experimenting around with since I heard the music of the late Nujabes. This track features some vocal work done by myself and my friend Sachiko. I’m very surprised at how much attention this got, especially with Call of Duty 4 montage videos haha. Enjoy!

Soundtrack from the movie Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence (戦場のメリークリスマス), a.k.a. Furyo in Europe, directed by Nagisa Oshima, and starring David Bowie, Tom Conti, Ryuichi Sakamoto and Takeshi Kitano.

The instrument is a Kawai VPC1 controlling a Clavia Nord Stage 2, using a sampled Yamaha C7 grand piano, and... straight from the 80's a sampled preset named "Touch Perco" from the Yamaha DX7 mk2 synth.

I recently bought myself a contact microphone for myself during the winter holiday and wanted to try it out. It's made out of bottlecaps hence the title. All the sounds minus the Piano and Synth Bass sounds are from objects in the studio I mic'd up, mainly the plastic container that houses my business cards. Hope you enjoy this fun sound design experiment, I am really happy with the way this track turned out and will be using this as a basis for a future project!

Here's an excerpt from an audio collab I did with Holger Czukay (of the Krautrock band, Can) that he released on his album "Linear City" (Dignose -- re-released on SPV GmbH/Revisited Records (2)).  Originally released in 2001, the re-release was in 2006.

This is track three of the album and is roughly 23 minutes long.  Vocals by U-She (Ursula Kloss).  Other collaborators include:  1605 Munro, Michel Banabila*, Beatsystem, Dane Johnson, Dreamfluid, James Webb, Noiseman433, Panoptic (2), Tom Hamlyn

I'm listed as Noiseman433 in the credits which is my experimental noise act stage name.

Sleeve notes state:
"It happened that the BBC world service sent me a recording of Sudanese Zar ceremonies and asked for a remix. Oh no, not again of those tourist ethno excursions I thought and I layed off the tape. After 1,5 years I found it again, listened and started to work on fictional Sudan scape. When it was finished I wanted to know how other peoples creativity would flow into such a ceremony. On my website I installed a collaboration platform and invited visitors to participate in this idea and thus "Africana" was initiated. Only 4 samples of the original tape were given for the start. 2 more collaborations followed in a similar way in which the participants had access to a data account where they could up- and download the results of the team. These were finally edited and mixed. This Internet collaboration proved how nice and effective it can be working together with people you never have seen nor met before. The Internet made it possible."
