Taiwanese-American producer Bézier is part of the Honey Soundsystem crew and a core member of the Dark Entries label roster, and his next EP is his most personal effort to date. Entitled '府城,' the record was created in Taiwan using a minimal set-up inside a vacant apartment located in a building owned by his grandmother. Although the EP is slated for release on March 22 via Honey Soundsystem, we were given the chance the debut the chugging rhythm and soaring sounds of "孔廟" (which translates to "Confucius Temple") on Red Bull Radio's First Floor, our weekly look at what's new in electronic music.

The 2018 Meakusma Festival in eastern Belgium saw the first ever joint live performance by Dman and Roger 23. »222« sees the recorded rehearsal takes for that performance edited and enhanced, conjuring up an album that consciously swerves in and out of concrete and dreamlike states, updating 90s-like ambient house and techno with a cavernous and conceptual stance.

Over the course of twelve tracks and two locked grooves, »222« brings concrete ideas to conclusions that are as coincidental as they are intentional. It is this dichotomy that drives the album, its experimental nature touching upon simplicity and complexity in equal measure. Infused by a desire to fully execute ideas or have the ideas reach their own conclusion, »222« has an explicit album structure, giving space to long stretches of echo-laden experimental soundscapes and beats that are introspective yet forward, while its short tracks break open the mold and reset attention. This is an album made by two forces of underground club music in Germany. Their shared knowledge informs it with a sense of history while at the same time updating and commenting on that same history. It uses house and techno as a portal into more experimental terrain.

Wharf Cat Records with Jordan Reyes (American Dreams) @ The Lot Radio 09 - 03 - 2020

WE FORFEIT return to the interwaves with a very specific focus, the lads’ adopted home of Spain and the labels that hail from there. The rented Seat Ibiza is packed as Robbie and Chris explore the Iberian peninsula across twenty five tracks.

The northern coast is taken in. Galicia with Vagon Brei and Massage Brain Cult, from Lugo and A Coruña, as the lads fill up on electronics and pulpo as they make their way down the highways and byways towards the capital.

Being Madrid based, a leisurely pitstop in the hometown with a wide selection coming from Frigio and Femur. The sites and sounds are taken in. Bocadillas de calamares abound, as do other treats from the likes of Negocius man and Arcanoid before dropping in on labels like Analogical Force Noise, Barro, Caustica Waveform, Eleve and Noise to Meet You.

The rented motor is put through its paces, heading northwest for Cataluña to take in a tour of Camp Nou as well as visiting Aspecto Humano, Hooded, Polybius Trax, Spaecial and Útil before hitting the coast with Oráculo.

Never ones to shy away from extended metaphors and overly long car journeys in searing heat with no aircon, WE FORFEIT plunge toward the southern coast for a two track stay with Waste Editions in Almería.

A two hour audio excursion across a country, taking in electro, house, techno, synth, wave and much much more from a rich rich scene. Un abrazo!
