02. Prophet - Fade

Introducing the first EP from Dan Marshall – wonderfully sampled rhythms and skilfully crafted beats in a seemingly Helter skelter fashion, ‘Acid Bon Bons’ is both beauty and beast; jazz monkey meets acid moog in a gleefully revelling combo.

Audaciously followed by ‘Smiley Tarts’ a wonky double-bass, trip-hop, disco roller that keeps the jazz in this release alive.

And finally we end on ‘Long Hose’. A fusion of synth chorded jazz, funk and modern trap beats decorated by late 60s San Fransisco. A classy bookend to a special and wildly original debut.

Well, it’s been a hot minute since we last gathered the ever expanding Four40 roster together for a full blown compilation release, but with Smokey Bubblin B offering up such an attractive selection of UKG artists, we would have been fools not steam ahead with this one!

Smokey Bubblin B himself leads the way with this one, including two potent originals from himself amongst the tracklisting, along with a mellow 2-steppy roller entitled ‘Lunar’ alongside Tuff Culture, who also features two storming originals on the track listing. Following up a fantastic year of releasing, Kastle also gets involved with two top notch compositions by the name of ‘In My Mind’ and ‘Keep It Tight’ alongside the legendary Mind Of The Dragon. 

The roster for this one then expands dramatically as we are introduced to original heaters from the likes of El-B, Royal Flush, Minista, Jared Jackson, Hybrid Theory, Chris Lorenzo, Ill Phill, Pete Graham, Perception, Might, Perception and Stixy D, with a cheeky Doctor Nick remix on top, all culminating in one of the finest selections we have ever assembled.
