An elusive producer comes back with a new mantle: Ruff Cherry, last seen on the label in 2017, returns with an EP of shredded halftime drum & bass with jungle accents that etches out a dominating stance in the producer’s first foray outside the thresholds of techno. Hugely distant from a meager first stab at the genre, the Cork-based producer’s ‘Phantom Fortress’ EP proficiently demarcates a sparse battleground for conflicting and rhythmically harmonic drum flairs, enveloping bass, and taut sound design that is as compelling as it is exhilarating.

DaRuff has been making serious waves in the world of 2020's JUNGLE and for good reason! His global sound background and polyrhythms that truly bend your grasp of musical time keeping along with longer songs that lead you on a sonic journey rather than the 80 second sample pack sound clips so many modern 'DnB' producer insist are still songs are why Daruff is the whole package.

'Emotions' is a piano driven think break mind walk that is as easy to settle into as the softest lounger you've ever fallen back into... until the extended breakdown switch up that brings the storm clouds and gloom over which the second half's amens run for cover!

On the flip 'Memory' sets the tone with a mixture of thoughtful sonics including heavily reverbed vocalizations and sparkling bells so high in the register they might as well be glass. Rolling amens flip and fall onto themselves like a cascade of snares flowing from a waterfall.

"Shadowrun" isn't quite that long, but the tracks offers a breakneck journey that we debuted on Red Bull Radio's First Floor, our weekly look at what's new in electronic music.

Known to his chums as The Passenger started dj'ing in 93, on a strict diet of UK Rave and then Drum n Bass, Jungle.

He played on London pirate stations Origin and Hype FM and has since spread his unique love from Sankeys, Manchester, Elektrowerkz, London, to Ministry of Sound, Ibiza. 

He now devours genres like girls chomp crisps. Techno, House, Dub Step, Acid, Breakbeat, Fidget, Grime, DIrt n Dust!

After a short stay in Asia he is now in Italy spreading his bass, and continuing to mash genres to create this unique brand of bass n beats.
