Austin Hammonds is a film and media composer from Ashland Kentucky. Now based in Los Angeles California, he continues to have an active career in the film, television, and video game industries. Hammonds believes strongly in the expressive power of orchestral scores, bringing evocative and energetic themes and colors to each of his scores.

In 2017, Hammonds graduated from Morehead State University in Morehead, Kentucky where he studied music under Dr. Matthew Taylor and began composing music, building his concert music repertoire. His works were written for various ensembles including the MSU trombone choir, the MSU “MoreSax” saxophone choir, and the MSU concert band. He premiered his piece Dawn Fanfare with the Cave Run Symphony Orchestra of Morehead, Kentucky in 2017.

Hammonds continued his education at the University of Miami as a full tuition scholar and teaching assistant for the Media Writing and Production program at the highly acclaimed Frost 

School of Music. During his time there, he explored his passion for writing music for motion picture through film scoring classes as well as scoring his first short film. He studied under film composers Carlos Rafael Rivera (Godless 2017 , A Walk Among the Tombstones 2014) and Chris Boardman (Local Color 2006, Payback 1999) as well as orchestrator Gary Lindsay.

Throughout his time at the University of Miami, Hammonds wrote the scores for 6 films that premiered at the Canes Film Festival in 2018 and 2019 and two films at the Scares and Scores Film Festival in 2017 and 2018. In 2019, Hammonds scored Santastein, written and directed by Manny Camilion and Ben Edelman, which had a screening at the Sarasota Film Festival. At the 2019 Henry Mancini Institute Chamber music concert, Hammonds performed his score for Love and Interest live to picture. His final collaboration as a Frost graduate student was with director Hemrajani, Apple Pie, premiered on PBS in the summer of 2019 featuring an electronic dance music score.

His stylistic flexibility lends itself well to the field, as he has written a variety of scores for many different genres of film. Modeling composers that inspired him in his youth, Hammonds prides himself on composing music with a strong emphasis on orchestral writing.

“I use the orchestra for its wide range of emotional flexibility and believe it to be profoundly impactful when used appropriately. This is even true when the orchestra is used in tandem with other electronic or synthetic musical elements.”

Hammonds then further continued his education in film scoring at the University of Southern California where he was recently graduated from the Thornton School of Music’s world-renowned Screen Scoring program's class of 2020. He also graduated with honors, recieving both the Harnell Outstanding Graduate Award as well as the Betty Rose Collaboration Award. While there, he studied orchestration and film composition with incredible faculty professionals such as Pete Anthony, Patrick Kirst, and Gary Schyman.

Matthew and Jermaine Cranmo were born Janurary 24,1987 in Cincinnati Ohio. Mary Cranmo,  a single mother of four raised her children in Lincoln Courts. With their mother almost dying from Pneumonia and being hopitalized for a year they had to move with friends and family and eventually ended up in foster care til their mother was back on her feet.   At the age of nine Matthew and Jermaine knew they had to find a better way out of the hood so they started rapping. They would often remix songs made by artists like Tupac, Biggie, Hot Boyz, Naz and plenty more.  After Lincoln Courts was tore down they moved to be with there family in Kentucky. In 2007 they caught their first case selling drugs. Music seemed like the only way out not to mention having to be fathers to their children.  In 2011, they dropped their first mixtape "Go Dumb Hard" featuring artists Tradmark Aaron, Los D Hustle, K Riley, Dubb GGI.  In 2013, they dropped another mixtape produced by Mac Niff (a childhood friend) "From Nothin To Somethin" it featured J Mell and Aaron Staccato. They opened for up for artists DJ Unk and Dorrough. They performed at Best Of Cincinnati with DJ Slick Rick, Tazen Hause, Casa Mexico, Celeberties and The Red Velvet. Even in 2014 when they struggled from being homeless for a year, that didnt stop them from performing at open mics at Mad Frog, Dirty Jacks and Clicks.  Their song "WeSeriousWeLive" Ft Biz Da Troof was a big hit , They got to perform the song at the 2015 Dj Conference in ATL.   You can find  "WeSeriousWeLive" on Google Play and Itunes etc and the music video is on YouTube.  In 2016, they are now signed with ATG (Auto Tune Gang) / Universal. Background

Matthew got his first taste of guitar at the age of three, when he received a toy guitar for Christmas. He started taking lessons in the second grade and won his first electric guitar in the 2007 James Burton Foundation’s Guitar Showdown. Inspired by artists such as The Beatles, Stevie Ray Vaughan, John Mayer, and Maroon 5, Matthew combines elements of pop, rock, and blues into his own music. When Matthew was just 12 years old, he formed his own band and The Matthew Davidson Band made their debut in 2010. 

Career Highlights

The Matthew Davidson Band made its debut over 7 years ago and has not slowed down since! Matthew has performed over 380 shows at venues all across the south. Some of Matthew's most notable performances include: The New Orleans Jazz Fest, Dallas House of Blues, Hard Rock Cafe Dallas and Memphis, and the James Burton International Guitar Festival. Matthew has had the honor of sharing the stage on two separate occasions with internationally acclaimed blues/rock guitarist Kenny Wayne Shepherd. Matthew has also had the privilege of opening for nationally known acts Austin Mahone, Rachel Platten, and Fifth Harmony. 

Awards

Over his relatively short career, Matthew has amassed numerous awards and accolades. Matthew was selected as the guitarist for the 2011 “Kidd Kraddick in the Morning” Rock Camp Band. During the camp, the band performed both live on the air on “Kidd Kraddick in the Morning” (a nationally syndicated radio show) and at the Dallas House of Blues with Patrick Stump from Fall Out Boy. In 2011 Matthew was also the winner of the Robert Johnson Blues Foundation New Generation Award. “His style was advanced for his age,” said Steven Johnson, Robert’s grandson and vice president of the Robert Johnson Blues Foundation. “It was crisp; it was professional. His style with that electric guitar was amazing.” In 2012, Matthew was nominated alongside Hunter Hayes for "Best Emerging Artist" by Offbeat Magazine (based in New Orleans). Matthew's original song "Read My Mind" was selected as a semi-finalist in the 2014 International Songwriting Competition. In both 2014 and 2015, Matthew was selected out of numerous applicants to attend Grammy Camp in Nashville, TN. More recently, Matthew received a Commercial Guitar Scholarship from the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee for two consecutive years.

Matthew released his debut EP "Step Up" in 2012 which was produced by legendary bass player and member of the "Wrecking Crew" Joe Osborn. In 2014, Matthew released his second EP "Cross My Heart". New music is on the way...

Nashville

Matthew moved to Nashville in August 2016 to major in commercial music at Belmont University. Since he moved, his musical endeavors have only increased. His band has already logged dozens of shows in and around Nashville at places such as Tootsie's Orchid Lounge, The Valentine, Whiskey Rhythm, Cerveza Jack's, and the Tin Roof in nearby Louisville, Kentucky.

Dwight Yoakam has sold more than 25 million albums worldwide, and he is a 21-time nominated, multiple GRAMMY Award winner. He has 12 gold albums and 9 platinum or multi-platinum albums, with five of those albums topping Billboard’s Country Albums chart and another 14 landing in the Top 10. Nearly 40 of Yoakam’s singles have charted on Billboard, with 14 peaking in the Top 10. 

The LSD Tour, featuring Lucinda Williams, Steve Earle, and Dwight, unites three of music’s most celebrated and iconic voices on one epic cross-country package for the very first time. Kicking off June 12, 2018 at Blue Hills Bank Pavilion in Boston, MA and rolling through iconic amphitheaters and theaters in major markets across the country, the LSD Tour concludes on August 18, 2018 at Farm Bureau Insurance Lawn in Indianapolis, IN. Yoakam’s self-curated SiriusXM channel, titled Dwight Yoakam and The Bakersfield Beat ‘Where Country Went Mod’, will launch in late April.  The channel celebrates the Bakersfield sound and those whom it has inspired, including Buck Owens, Merle Haggard, Wynn Stewart, Tommy Collins, The Byrds, The Flying Burrito Brothers, Eagles, The Blasters, Lucinda Williams, and more. It encompasses all that is California country and country rock, in all of its various and varietal hybrid forms, from Ricky Nelson to Emmylou Harris and Linda Ronstadt. The channel includes artists from the movement in LA in the early to middle ‘80s that Yoakam broke out of and features bands as diverse as X, Lone Justice and Los Lobos. This movement was encapsulated on the series of albums titled A Town South of Bakersfield and has led variations over time to the current continuing country scene in LA, all of which Yoakam has dubbed as a segment for his channel entitled “That Town South of Bakersfield: From Cow Punks to Now Punks”.

In 2016, Yoakam released his bluegrass album Swimmin’ Pools, Movie Stars… on Sugar Hill Records. Featuring a band of bluegrass luminaries, this album boasts a collection of reinterpreted favorites from his catalogue, as well as a cover of Prince’s “Purple Rain”. Produced by nine-time GRAMMY winner Gary Paczosa (Alison Krauss, Dolly Parton), Jon Randall (songwriter of “Whiskey Lullaby”), and Yoakam himself, and mixed by Chris Lord-Alge, this album reflects the love for bluegrass music that Yoakam developed at an early age in Kentucky and that has inspired him for many years thereafter. 

In addition to his musical career, Yoakam is a formidable film and television actor who has appeared in over 40 feature films, including Sling Blade and Panic Room. In 2016, he recurred in David E. Kelley’s Amazon series Goliath. Recently, he appeared in director Steven Soderbergh’s film Logan Lucky with Channing Tatum and Daniel Craig. Yoakam is capable of seamlessly melting into his roles and impressively standing toe-to-toe with some of the world’s top thespians over the course of his storied and successful acting career, including Jodie Foster, Tommy Lee Jones, Jared Leto, Forest Whitaker, and Matthew McConaughey.

he Matthew Shadley Band was formed in 2003 by Matthew Shadley Brauer. An established multi-instrumentalist in several Cincinnati-area bands, Matt joined fellow guitarist and former college bandmate Jason Scherrer with a temporary rhythm section and the makeshift band made its debut in October of 2003, playing an acoustic set at the 5th Annual Harvest Moon Festival held at the historic Southgate House in Newport, Kentucky.

Brauer and Scherrer added a more permanent rhythm section and switched to an electric presentation with Brauer on lead guitar and lead vocals. With Chuck Morgan on drums, Jason Peter on keyboards, and Tom Legg on bass, the band evolved from folk-rock to a more melodic, electric guitar-driven, alt-rock sound. The band drew comparisons to music as wide-ranging as the Beatles, Buffalo Springfield, the Jayhawks, the Black Crowes, Traffic, the Mother Hips, and the Wallflowers. 

After the 2004 release of Five Easy Pieces, the band maintained a busy schedule headlining venues and playing regionally through 2006 with Steve Tertel replacing Tom Legg on bass. The band recorded Underneath the Red Light, a live album at the House of Blues Madison Theatre in January 2005. They earned a reputation as “Cincinnati’s live show specialists” (Jan Perry – the Cincinnati Post) and continued to reach a growing audience through broadcast and internet radio while playing larger venues and showcases, including the Midpoint Music Festival, the Roots and Rock Festival, 80's Pop Rocks, and the Festivus Maximus Festival.  

The band slowed down its live schedule and continued working in the studio through 2006 with Brauer handling bass duties following Tertel’s departure. The band went on hiatus later that year, while Brauer joined local rockers the Trojan Rabbit. He returned to the studio with additional material and completed the full-length album Summer Stone in 2008.

After a long hiatus, Brauer returned to the studio in 2020 during the nationwide COVID-19 quarantine, writing and recording new music as part of the Quarantune Project with other Cincinnati-based musicians. In 2021 he released the single "Oh, Karen," which was written during those sessions. 

The work has since continued with the skills of notable session musicians (Kenny Aronoff, Norm Garschke, Luke Oswald, Stefan Olofsson) and former bandmates (Jason Peter, Anthony Rich, Chris Rowell), as well as two of Matt's daughters (Maggie and Lorelei). From his studio on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, Brauer has put together an ambitious project under the moniker of the Matthew Shadley Band. It is his first recorded album in 14 years. The new album, Emerald is now in post-production and scheduled for release this Summer.
