American percussionist and bandleader. 
Born 24 September 1922 in Chicago, Illinois. Nicknamed “Mr. Bongo” for his role in making the instrument popular, almost starting a “bongo craze” as latin rhythms influenced jazz and pop following World War II. Originally a dancer, Costanzo visitied Cuba several times to learn conga playing, before reportedly being the first bongo player to join a jazz band. He played with Stan Kenton (1947–1948), Nat King Cole (1949–1953], Billy May And His Orchestra, Peggy Lee, Perez Prado, Charlie Barnet, Ray Anthony, Xavier Cugat, Frank Sinatra and others. In the 1950s Costanzo formed his own “Exotica” style band. In the early 1960s he was a member of the studio musicians group Surfmen, The. He has continued to play for more than half a century, retiring in 1998 but making a comeback in 2001.

Los Destellos Nacen En el Año 1966

Fundador: Enrique Delgado Montes.

En el primer año, Los Destellos interpretaban El rock "Nueva Ola" y "El Vals"

En año 1967 Enrique ya tenia preparado los 12 temas que serian la partida de Nacimiento la cumbia Peruana

En el Mes de Febrero 68 Enrique da a conocer , El Primer Lp Titulado: "Los Destellos" 

En el Mes de Mayo Año 1968 comienzan las presentaciones en las matinales los cines Perricholi, Excelsior, Idolo, Central etc.

Dando origen a muchas agrupaciones pues en este primer LP estan las 3 raices musicales de la cumbia peruana, de la Costa, Sierra y Selva

Donde se encuentran: la Cumbia Costeña, Cumbia Amazónica, y Cumbia Andina ESTAS 3 RAICES ENRIQUE DELGADO LE LLAMO CUMBIA PERUANA.

En el año 68 al 70 graban temas instrumentales como El Avispon, El renegon, La Charapita, La ardillita, Luchita, Chachita, Pasión Oriental, La arabeza , La rasca, rasca etc..
En el año 1970 graban el primer tema con voz masculina "Elsa" sobrepasando el millon de discos por aquel entonces con la voz del primer cantante Felix Martinez.

Luego en el año 1973 los temas : "Muchachita Celosa", "Jardin de amor" , "Caprichosa", "Dueña de mi Amor" con la voz de Claudio Moran, luego vendrian los temas: "Quinceañera", "Por las mañanas", "A los bosques me interno" etc etc... 

En la decada del 70 Los bailes se centralizan en el Paseo Colon.

En el mes de Octubre de 1975 Enrique integra a la banda a su hermana menor Edith Delgado como animadora de eventos y representante del grupo.

Despues de un lapso de descanso del 80 Año al 84 reaparecen "Los Destellos" con nuevos integrantes, nuevos uniformes y nuevos temas con la voz de enrique Delgado con los temas: "En el mundo Estas", "Palomita de Barro", "El enfermo", "La solterona", "Que bien me dijo mi madre". Exitos que logran entrar a un nuevo pùblico mas popular de San San Juan de Lurigancho, Carretera Central, Cono Norte.

Año 1985 graban para el programa tiempos de chicha, .

ENRIQUE Delgado FALLECE , el 21 de Marzo 1996 a consecuencia de multiples operaciones al pancreas, En el Hospital Rebagliati, la familia asegura que fue negligencia medica pues el 14 de Marzo habia sido dado de alta y fallece el 21 de Marzo del mismo año .


2do Periodo Año 1996, LOS DESTELLOS bajo la direcciòn General: Edith Delgado Montes, reelanzamiento del grupo en el mes de Mayo con la voz de Felix Martinez , Richar Melendez en la primera guitarra, y Fernando Limo e, , Javier Salcedo en el bajo, Carlos Ramirez Bazo en los timbales , Nestor Galvan en el bongo, Cachito Oliver en la tumba, y continuando como representante del grupo Oscar Casas Miguel que integra el grupo desde el año 1984,


LOS DESTELLOS 1998

GRABAN DOS PRODUCCIONES POR AÑO muchas de las producciones antiguas , han sido grabadas con los arreglos musicales aceptada en amplitud por su publico seguidor .

Presentaciones a nivel Nacionale e Internacional con llenos totales en cada una de sus presentaciones


LOS DESTELLOS DE EDITH DELGADO LLEVAN LA CUMBIA PERUANA A EUROPA En el 2006.- En una exitosa gira de 40 dias que los llevo por los Paises de Italia, Francia y España.

LOS DESTELLOS ES EL UNICO GRUPO MUSICAL CONDECORADO por EL GOBIERNO ITALIANO como: " Los Embajadores Culturales de la Cumbia Peruana" En la ciudad de roma en el Bella Villa de manos del conciglieri Señor joisè Santos Taboada, Dejando bien puesto el nombre del Perù en el extranjero .

En el 2007 RECIBEN VARIAS PREMIACIONES POR DIVERSAS MUNICIPALIDADES DISTRITALES DEL PERU , Municipalidad de Carmen de la Legua Reynoso, Callao etc, etc.

PREMIO INTERNACIONAL A LA EXCELENCIA OTORGADO POR LA REVISTA VIP DIPLOMATICO INTERNACIONAL

El Condor de Oro , Como: LOS MEJORES DEL 2007, OTORGADO por la Editorial Tiwinsa.

Diploma y medalla otorgado por la Apdayc por los 40 años en el 2006 .

Premio Apdayc 2008 "Como El Mejor Grupo de todos los tiempos"
