We know that having 5 releases out so far is not such a big deal for a label but when you see the Raw Roots artists and hear their music you understand that here is something special. This release can be described as a great package of 4 tracks exploring the various styles of the house music. The originals are collaborations by the German artists Sven Kerkhoff, Tya and So_Na - well known with their previous releases on labels like Kling Klong, Audio Safari etc. Opening track ‘Scumbag Boogie’ is a fresh and broody affair with thick basslines, pitch shifted voices lurking in shadows and plenty of spangled synths wrapping around it from start to finish. “Selfmade” fuses elements of house and bass into a skipping track that sways to and sounds like a siren in tones survey the bleak horizon. It’s arresting, strangely funky stuff that sound like little else. The two originals have their remixed versions and again the remixers are artists that you must hear – Mark Deutsche & Musoé  from Noir Music/Get Physical Music and Iuly.B from Butch’s bouq/Fear Of Flying Records. “Scumbag Boogie” verison of Mark Deutsche & Musoé have teamed up many times before now, for both remixes and originals, and here the pair refix  “Scumbag Boogie” into a nimble, supple bit of grainy but bulky techno that skips and scrapes with a real late night and underground swagger. Iuly.B then remixes “Selfmade”on his own and turns it into a reflective and pensive bit of dub house with nicely shaped synths off in the distance as infectious percussive slices churn out a pattern in the foreground.
