As if Veronique kissed Davina under the shower, as if the Beach Boys had played Hip Hop, as if World’s Apart had heard about Dr Dre, there are things we imagine with no real hope for them to happen.

And then there is GYM who break the rules and manage to create disco pop fantasy for our ears.
Hailing from Lille, the trio is composed of Jérôme Voisin (Roken is dodelijk's lead vocalist) , Nicolas Bertin (Lille’s underground scene major drummer) , Nicolas Obert (the extravagant bass player) and releases a muscled EP.

Four tracks mixed by We Are Enfant Terrible’s guitarist Thomas Fourny that look like their creators: sexy, hairy, mysterious and danceable.

Doing the splits between Midlake and the Klaxons, the band is in the line of pop music’s high competitors with its symphonic arrangements, unleashed drums and inspired lyrics.

We Are ENFANT TERRIBLE are two french boys and a girl trio from Paris created in May 2008. Their songs have an electro dance sound with indie rock and synthpop sounds and a touch of 8bit music. All performed live with Guitars, Drums and re-programmed Nintendo gameboy on stage.

Their lyrics talk about how young people see the world today, how they could smartly mix fashion culture, web domination, video game attraction, constant fun and still be aware of humanity, true feelings and resource sharing.

Buzzing on blogs and myspace, the trio played their first gig opening for PEACHES and the legendary label Delicious Vinyl (home of Tone Loc, Young MC) whose co-founder Rick Ross declared “it’s all there. Compared to CSS, Goldfrapp, the Ting Tings or the Kills for their sense of sexyness, energy and wild performance. WAET blur the distinction between rock band and electro pop addiction.

Quitte à souligner le caractère naïvement enjoué des contrées où Marvin Hood caracole, controns d'emblée tout vain étiquetage de « pop fraîche », bêtement collé sur la première mélopée enjouée qui passe, et accordons-nous, si vous le voulez bien, sur le terme arbitraire de pop surgelée. Desproges nous avait prévenus. Le frais murit. Le mûr se gâte. Et le gâté se meurt. Or, la science le prouve, les chansons des Marvin résistent au temps qui file et conservent, quelque soit le nombre d'heures d'écoute, leurs vertus euphorisantes et leurs refrains allègres.
Groupe de pop faussement naïf donc, Marvin Hood est l'une de ces formations qui s'amuse (adroitement) à transgresser les règles en conservant une identité propre. Tout clin d'oeil à des groupes ayant existé est bien évidemment convenu. Pour ne citer qu'un parrainage parmi tant d'autres, Marvin Hood évoque Weezer, par ce pouvoir secret de ne jamais lasser tout en tirant systématiquement les mêmes ficelles.
On pense aussi à Blur, Supergrass, Arcade Fire, Of Montreal, les Beatles. Et les Beach Boys qui auraient oublié de muer. Car, oui, la chanteuse du groupe est un chanteur.
Pour leur fringante entrée dans l'industrie phonographique, le groupe a décidé de décliner l'amour (notez l'originalité du thème) sous toutes les coutures. Alors, Love is all you need ? Pas si Teletubies que ça les Marvin Hood, conscients des travers de la chose si l'on se réfère au titre : Love is demolition. Love me tender ? Oui mais alors Love me true. Enfin, Love is in the air ? Quand Marvin Hood joue, assurément.
