Red Peak Mix 006 With Rethink

We are very pleased to be bringing forth this new mix in a strictly dubplate fashion. Loaded with forthcoming tunes, as well as some deep cuts you won't find elsewhere. The first half of the mix spotlights the ambient sounds of Duja, followed by a ruff 'n' tuff selection of rhythms from J.Brenner. This mix has been a while in the making, and we hope you all enjoy! For mix 007 Red Peak Sound's very own @dujanoise linked with Dem Deya Sound System's @scarienofficial for a heavy session. The mix starts off in an old school fashion with some killers from the past, as well as some newer tracks with that classic sound. Red Peak Mix 011 W Mister Niño

We are pleased to present our twelfth installment to this mix series. A year ago we started this mix series to share the music that moves us, and makes us smile. As this next year continues we plan on keeping the mixes rolling, and digging ever deeper into our collections. We also have a release in the manufacturing process...which is taking a while...but we can promise the wait will be worth it. Debuting our lathe cut series with two eccentric cuts from Duja. "Rolling" takes the listener through a modern interpretation of roots with a dub techno twist, while "Sovereignty" backs up the release with an ethereal rendition of modern steppers. We are back with a special mix. Not only is it our 20th mix, but we couldn't be happier to welcome Rethink back for his second appearance. This time J.Brenner was able to link with Rethink in his home studio in Wisconsin. The history between Rethink and J.Brenner runs deep. Growing up together in Minnesota, and discovering Sound System Music together, you can always expect something special when these two can get together. Done in a true Red Peak style, these two dug through their collections for over two hours of dubwise. Starting off on a roots tip and blending into the heavy bass we have all come to love. J.Brenner's stripped back riddim combines with Fikir Amlak's diverse lyrical flow for a meditation to remind us all to stand strong and overcome the wickedness around us. Flipping the record over to the dub, J.Brenner takes us into the realm of drums and bass. Mixed in a ruff n tuff 80s dubwise style. Putting emphasis on the groove with plenty of echoe to take us even deeper into the mountainous valleys that surround Red Peak. The low harmonics on the bass, driving kick drum, and a strong lyrical journey all tie together perfectly to draw you closer to the speaker boxes and become entranced in the message and the music.

redpeak001 - Fikir Amlak - Conquering The Wicked (clip)

Welcome back to the Red Peak Mix Series. After a little hiatus we are proud to return with a very special mix. This mix features the sounds of Wadadah II of the Black Sabbath Sound System who was accompanied by Selector Ali Baba. Wadadah II was a crucial part in the Late Night Ghetto that took place at the Gypsy House Cafe in July and was powered by Dem Deya Sound System. Jack and Wadadah had a nice moment bonding over the vibrations of the Twinkle Brothers early before the session. Months later we had to follow up and ask for him to dig in his record box for us. While on the phone he introduced us to Selector Ali Baba and the rest is history. Selector Ali Baba is no stranger to Denver himself. He’s played the Denver Vintage Reggae Society’s “LEVEL THE VIBES” digikiller night and with Soulbeat Girl’s Movete Chiquita Vinyl Club. Both of these selectors out of Chicago have been key parts to the bubbling of sound system here in Denver. 

The first part of the mix is hosted by Wadadah II in a one turntable style. Digging into the box from his late Uncle Billy, who had one of the first sound systems in Chicago called President Disco. The selection is top notch. Digging deep into the roots in a different style. Accompanied by his toasting on the mic, it warms up the session nicely. Selector Ali Baba finishes off the second half of the mix. Showcasing his juggling style of mixing as well as some more toasting from himself as well as Wadadah II. The entire mix was done on 7" records and in a real sound system style! Expect plenty of deep cuts and excellent toasting throughout. Turn up the volume and enjoy the session!

Duja and J.Brenner return for another mix in a Red Peak Style. Throughout all our mixes, we have a special place in our heart for Mix 002, and the ambient dub journey it took us on. We tried once more for a journey into the more obscure, but the mix was lost due to technical difficulties during recording. It appears the planets have aligned, and another adventure to the outer realms of the dubiverse is underway. Buckle up the seatbelts, equip the space helm, dial up the volume to 9 and the bass to 11. DENVER SPECIAL - STRICTLY ROOTS AND CULTURE 
A small den of roots and culture in the midwest, Denver has its own unique appreciation for the qualities brought forth through Jamaica in it’s musical conquest of the world. It can be seen vigorously in Denver's techno and EDM dance scene but also in its deep and dubby roots scene brought forward through multiple sound systems in the Front Range. Blas Goncalves-Borrega has a small part in this bigger picture as a selector, friend and artist. He brings forth a heavy and mystic mix of rare and obscure roots for the mad scientists at Red Peak Sound, with each song I selected having Jack and Justin on my mind. Peace and Love is the message!

Red Peak Sound is honored to announce our next 10" single with the one and only Junior Dread from São Paulo, Brazil. J.Brenner met Junior Dread in Minneapolis in 2022 at the Word Sound Power Festival, and the connection grew from there. By the end of 2022 two new tracks had been written and from there a proper trial period. Numerous mixes, dubplates, and test plays have lead us to the final release. On the A side we have Dread Of Babylon. A slow and heavy stepper that creates the vision of looking into the heart of Babylon from the mountain top. Reminding us all to stand tall for what is right. Followed by a rough and tough dubwise mix that drives the bass through the echo chambers and tears the rhythm back to its foundation. Flipping over to the B side, Junior Dread leads us through a deeper meditation on Jah Jah A Me. The one drop rhythm and concise lyrics create the space to ascend us into the astral realms. Bringing us closer to the light. The dub version builds on the swirling atmosphere, becoming lost somewhere between space and time. Blessed love one and all! We are proud to present a special guest selection from B Löwd based out of Peoria, IL. B Löwd was heavily captured by the oldschool sounds of early dubstep, inspiring his dive into production. Their back catalogue on SoundCloud spans almost a decade and captures his exploration in sound in various styles and chapters. In 2019 B Löwd started spinning wax, opening up a deeper dive into sound system culture. Currently he operates a "yet-to-be-titled" sound system exclusively with Defkon1, and remains active in Peoria's electronic music scene. Ben effortlessly showcases his selection, juggling from the early days of dub into the current soundscapes of dubtechno and dubstep. Bass forward and highly meditative, this selection is crucial. Dial up to 9 and enjoy the vibration.
