Aeons ago, mysterious cryptic transmissions were sent from Alpha Cutauri. A team of subversive cyantists from Leipzig were finally able to decipher a new chapter onto polyvinyl chloride.
Examiner LUI came up with rave-o-lutionary methods which have been executed at the low frequency laboratory of doctor Demegy. Finally a secret gold dust ingredient was added to the audio code and it was pressed successfully as the tenth disc on LXC's record label. Flying high at the top spot for such high resolution sound objects.
It is proudly released to the public under the name of Raumwerk EP, holding various uptempo BPM while keeping up sparseness and depth. Some pieces are served straight to the point with pure Drum'n'Bass, others are spiced up with Autonomic cheese flavour one simply can't resist.

Klaustrophon opens wilful and vivid by diving deep into the imaginary space version of a syncopathic Mariana Trench, exploring jittering light beams of plasma clouds inside the frontal lobe.
Stolpergeist spins a yarn about a dramatically failed experimental lifeform, half liquid, half solid rock. Slurp by slurp it was able to escape and still slumps its way through the jellaxy slipping happily even after.
Flächenromantik was field-recorded on a slow-motion moon witnessing solar flares of an innumerable multi-sun solar system. Every bar holds one warm and light autonomic sunset, really romantic synth pads, fluffy bass and a beat like Swiss clockwork, so that every click turns into a microfunky eclipse.
Synthoskop is an astronomic showdown on a stone-cold paddock pond. A fascinating piece documenting the skweeekings during impassioned mating of three Cutaurian Gurglers. Rave long and proper!

Absolutely badman choon will ramp up any dance. Gunshots, ragga samples, sirens, scratches, percussions, classic breaks and fat bass, of course, are skillfully combined into an mad UKG groove - pure brockwild. A worthy continuation of the classic RipGroove anthem. Not for hesitant selectors. Oooi!

Sydney staple, Splitch, brings to us his debut release for Big Ting Recordings, a sample-heavy juxtaposition of deep basslines and vibrant breakbeats. The A-side ‘Apex,’ a summertime anthem, combines melodies reminiscent of the hardcore era and the crunch of modern day broken-beat music. Track two, ‘Mesmerized’, again pays homage to some classic bass music sounds, a 2-step driven rhythm, with LFO driven basslines set to tear down any low-lit warehouse. 99 Nissan Patrol rounds up the release with his half-time drum & bass influenced version of Mesmerized, complete with 808 jungle style bass and crisp precise percussion.

Apex/Mesmerized brings to light more of the traditional sounds Big Ting Recordings has been known for since its inception. Driven by saturated breakbeats and basslines, it is an amalgamation of the many different styles of bass music the Sydney-siders love.

J.Brenner met Junior Dread in Minneapolis in 2022 at the Word Sound Power Festival, and the connection grew from there. By the end of 2022 two new tracks had been written and from there a proper trial period. Numerous mixes, dubplates, and test plays have lead us to the final release. On the A side we have Dread Of Babylon. A slow and heavy stepper that creates the vision of looking into the heart of Babylon from the mountain top. Reminding us all to stand tall for what is right. Followed by a rough and tough dubwise mix that drives the bass through the echo chambers and tears the rhythm back to its foundation. Flipping over to the B side, Junior Dread leads us through a deeper meditation on Jah Jah A Me. The one drop rhythm and concise lyrics create the space to ascend us into the astral realms. Bringing us closer to the light. The dub version builds on the swirling atmosphere, becoming lost somewhere between space and time. To wrap up the first season of our Satellite Trax experiment, we have called upon a legend in the Detroit underground scene for dancefloor support. A shapeshifter in his own artistic universe, Joel Dunn has taken on many faces over the years. From embodying an electro maestro as @marshall-applewhite, to flexing his footwork proficiency as @cockybalboa, finding all his music on the internet feels like a scavenger hunt. His work has landed on renowned regional labels such as Detroit Underground and Yo Sucka, as well as overseas representation by Scuffed Recordings and Hatched. Dunn has now revived his dubstep-centric alias OktoRed to join the Satellite Era alliance and deliver our first proper release of the genre.

Known for cutting-edge production quality that disregards genres, Dunn has always balanced his forward-thinking music approach with a laidback attitude - pushing sonic boundaries while simply having fun doing so. Representing the lush underground of one of electronic music’s capitals, he has always worn Detroit on his sleeve. His latest project “Michigan & Rosa EP” is rightfully named after the intersection of a now defunct club, which served as stomping grounds for the early dubstep movement and launchpad for countless careers in the region. It pays homage to his upbringing with a collection of sludgy beats that capture the essence of that era - envision a sweaty, dimly lit room engulfed in cigarette smoke that serves alcohol after hours. The project sets the tone early with “ReSquish,” flexing heavy breaks over Reggae influences. “Raw” recruits Flirta D, one of the originators of grime and a Gorgon City collaborator more recently, to deliver a raunchy track with chopped vocals throughout. “Lit Cigarette” and “Backroom” build off the roots of dubstep, with swingy drums and a grueling low-end presence meant to be felt on a thumping sound system. “Extra Ice” reintroduces shuffling percussion that forms a proper breakbeat workout. “Vengabus” ends the EP on a playful note, covering a Vengaboys anthem as an obscure party trick and slowed DJ tool - available exclusively on Bandcamp.

“Michigan & Rosa EP” revisits an important time in Dunn’s life in sound, all while encapsulating the grittiness of urban Detroit - a realm we hold close to our hearts. He has not only left a mark in the Motor City’s underground over the years, but also a digital footprint in bass music behind the scenes. Dunn’s career continues to be an enigma, leaving much of it open-ended - a perfect end of our first Satellite Trax season. Expect more of the finest up and comers in dance music next year as we continue our journey, one audio file at a time.
