Yes, it really has been fifteen years since Future Tech (aka Drumsound & Bassline Smith) signalled the beginning of the Technique Recordings odyssey with their eponymous debut collaboration. Since then, the drum and bass sound has spread its tendrils from the dark corners of the underground into the limelight of mainstream appreciation. And Technique has been at the forefront of that evolution all the way. So, here's an LP to show the world exactly what a decade and a half among the top tier of D&B labels sounds like.

Label heads Drumsound & Bassline Smith take pole position, dropping straight into the drama of the Friction-supported “Spring Heel Jack”. Then comes another of Technique's most recognisable acts, Tantrum Desire with the low-down funk of “Shuffle”, followed by another Friction-favourite from the bossmen with “Sputnik”. The big names keep coming throughout the album, as Crissy Criss supplies the VIP of his monumental “Create the Future” and the mighty Digital goes dubbed-out with a remix of “Phantasm”. Plus Drumsound & Bassline Smith's alter-ego 2DB pass through with the highly-grimey “Terrahawk” and L Plus delivers two precision-engineered killers in the form of “Red Planet” and “Going Down”.

Flipping the script, Technique new boys Document One strike from two angles with the laid-back “Jazz Club” and the dirty dancefloor uppercut of “Body Like Wow”. TREi takes us to the big room with “Here & Now”, and the ever-individual MaxNRG shows off his ability to combine energy with melody on “Far Frontiers of Space”. Erb N Dub and Skope recruit Mr Dirty Smirks, MC SMK himself, to bring some typically hard bars to “Pull it Back”. Kronology does what it says on the tin with some “Razor Sharp” technoid-jungle vibes. And Aussie badman Spectrem brings some hands-in-the-air euphoria with “Say Goodbye” and then roughen things up with “The Future”. Infrasonik take the honour of completing the collection with “Bricks Breaking”. And finally, Drumsound & Bassline Smith step back up for a lap of honour with a mix of all the tracks from the LP.PreOrder "15 Years Of Technique" Album

From the veteran headliners to the breakthrough talent, from the filthy rave-wreckers to the stadium-sized anthems, this album demonstrates the versatility and innovation that has kept Technique Recordings' status for all this time. The King is watching

Mainframe representing Alpine Drum & Bass big time on this release. 'Connect' sees three of Austria's hottest exports joining forces, with beloved veteran duo Body & Soul on the production, Daxta MC on the vocals and Phentix on the flip side with a pumping remix.

Body & Soul have been defining the game for over a decade now, with releases on Viper, BC Presents, Breakbeat Kaos and legendary Virus Recordings, and they're still far from tired of pushing things forward. Phentix   recently propelled himself on to major players' watchlists, with releases on Critical, Cyberfunk and Citrus getting A-List support all across the scene, from DJ Hype to Noisia. Daxta MC has been hyping the crowds at large scale events such as Rampage, Let it Roll, Hospitality and Ram nights lately, let alone being Camo & Krooked's regular touring MC. 

On 'Connect', Daxta flows in a heavily laid-back, kind of distant manner, adding a nice twist to the track's lyrical theme about crowd and performers connecting to each other. Beginning with dark, lo-fi-sounding fanfares, loosely referring to 80's' classic 8-bit video games, the tune gradually shifts in key and overall sound to finally blow up as Jump-Up infected Dancefloor smasher, with tearing bass sounds propelling around ton-heavy drums, all embossed with that edgy trademark roughness Body & Soul are best known for.

The Phentix Remix even takes it a level deeper. Here again the intro is slightly reminiscent of the Eighties, though rather citing the era's cinematographic sphere by adding some John Carpenter-esque soundscapes on top.  Following a similar transition, the remix ends up as sub bass heavy roller, emitting a uniquely pumping stop-and-go Funk feel.

Body & Soul Feat. Daxta MC - Connect [MFR088]

It was the product of eons of research, an infinitely divisible weaponized molecule with the power to viciously disrupt at a granular level. Its innocuous smooth, red exterior glinted sharply under the labs harsh fluorescent lighting as it sat singularly ready, packed with the kinetic malevolence of its design. Subject 01304 sat with the wide staring eyes of a prey animal, small droplets of perspiration erupting from the pale skin of his face and shifting with the continual nervous twitching within his restraints. The faceless assistants administered the Redpill swiftly and without resistance as the observers watched with dark eyes, gazing without emotion upon their work. Inside the dark, moist interior of the subject, the pill’s casing split, its infernal contents spilling out, bonding with the subject’s biomatter, multiplying, attaching itself to each of his organic molecules, maliciously converting and evolving… hungrily devouring and pushing relentlessly towards the endstate of its design. The observers watched as the subject’s body distorted, heaving internally as he uttered inhuman sounds and twisted at his restraints. Black tendrils laced through the surface of his skin, suddenly tightening, before he both at once ruptured and imploded. The Redpill’s process was complete… amongst the carnage the tentacled black mass of teeth and gaping hollow eyes reached eerily towards the glass, the shadow of death in its wake.

EATBRAIN inducts its newest recruit in the form of French producer REDPILL, delivering 6 powerful slices of neurofunk (including a collaborative piece with Eatbrain veterans ZOMBIE CATS) for the CORRUPTION EP. From the ultrafunked heavy playfulness of FUNK DA POLICE, to the lemming-infused destructive tendencies of GROOVE DESTRUCTION and the jump-up flavoured neuro of I’M THE LAW, each layer delivers a unique and precisely crafted take on the genre with an unrelenting kinetic spirit. REPULSION, RED CAT and RABBIT unleash powerful strokes of hard-hitting d&b, giving the RED PILL a mighty backbone that’s perfect for annihilating sound systems and certainly set to devastate festivals throughout summer. Eatbrain prove once again their ability to take upcoming artists alongside their established producers and aggressively level up their output to ultimate effect.
