🗯🗯 Did your approach on creating music change during the pandemic and did it maybe even influence your style? 🗯🗯

It changed a lot tbh. Because of the missing club experiences it shifted more towards softer sounds. On top of that there was a lot more spare time available for spending in the studio. My general taste is always shifting a bit, so i cant tell you if this has something to do with the pandemic :)

🗯🗯 Did you gain something positive from this time with Corona? 🗯🗯

I gained a lot of knowledge about myself and music production during the pandemic. The before mentioned extra spare time made it possible to dive deeper into some topics.

Our next down.cast was mixed by our dutch friend @rozeofc. In the last few months he has been releasing one banger after another and we are very happy that he is now part of the down. family.

His productions are characterized by pushing basslines, perfectly rounded off with unique synth elements that make every sound system glow.

If you listen carefully, you will already find the two original tracks in his set, which he will release on our label at the beginning of July. As always, we hope you enjoy listening.

Mila Stern plays music like a vole swinging a glow stick. Gently but firmly she pushes us forward. Little kicks in the back side towards happiness get us dancing on our toes until we want to cry out: “Whaaat?!” Mila was musically raised in youth centres & squats, ripened in Tel Aviv to finally graduate to the best clubs that Germany offers. She prefers a course around 123,4 bpm, sliding through with some shorter and occasionally with longer transitions. Preferably well-rested. But even crumpled, she has surprised us with utter superiority!

Hach ja, was soll ich sagen: Golden Gate ist einfach immer ehrlich, immer mit Soul, immer mit Fokus auf die Musik, immer mit "zu Hause Gefühl" und zwar auch für jemanden wie mich, der ich ja nicht in dem Sinne zum Laden gehöre. 
Ok, zugegeben: auch immer bisschen klebrig, aber hey: R a v e ist klebrig. Und das Golden Gate kommt mit Rave-Garantie und zwar kontinuierlich seit knapp 20 Jahren - das lässt sich schwer leugnen 😀

Und zum Mitschnitt: ich hatte für Ostern einiges an alten Hits rausgekramt, "Our Love Never Dies" von Adas Album auf Areal z.B. oder "Abusator" (Freak 'n Chic #07, gelbe Hülle). Schöne Zeitmaschine. Mit Plattenkratzern und allem drum und dran. Hab ich alles so gelassen. Ist echter so. Golden Gate halt.

Auf (Hoch-)Touren

Der Gig ist unter Dach und Fach, die Playtime fix und Flug & Hotel sind gebucht. Was für ein überragendes Gefühl, für die große Leidenschaft auf Reisen zu sein. Es ist jedes Mal wieder wie ein kleines Abenteuer. Man steigt ohne Erwartungen in den Flieger und kehrt um viele, wunderbar-einzigartige Erfahrungen reicher, müde und glücklich in die Heimat zurück. 
Bereits am Flughafen steigt die Spannung und Vorfreude auf ein extraordinäres Level an. Wie wird der Club? Auf was für Leute treffe ich wohl? Kann ich mit meinem Set überzeugen? Alle diese Frage schießen einem durch den Kopf, während der Flieger langsam aber sich vom Boden abhebt. Auf dem Laptop werden schnell die letzten Feinheiten und Korrekturen vorgenommen, anschließend kann die Aussicht aus dem Fenster genossen werden. Am Flughafen des Zielortes erwartet mich bereits einer der Veranstalter. Er ist mir direkt sympathisch und gemeinsam fahren wir zu einem Restaurant, um dort mit den anderen Acts und Organisatoren der Veranstaltung zu dinieren. Anschließend geht es erstmal ins Hotel. Ich nutze die letzten Stunden vor dem Auftritt, um mich zu erholen und zu entspannen. Kurz bevor die Veranstaltung beginnt, werde ich wieder abgeholt und wir fahren zum Club. Dort angekommen komme ich aus dem Staunen schier nicht mehr heraus. Alles ist sehr anschaulich hergerichtet und auch der Andrang an der Tür ist enorm. Ein vielversprechender Abend liegt vor mir. Es ist einfach fabelhaft wieder auf Tour zu sein. 

Unser heutiger Gast auf KataHaifisch trägt den Künstlernamen fid codo. Bei seinem Podcast handelt es sich um eine überragende Komposition aus treibenden Downtempo Werken, welche darüber hinaus vorzüglich ineinander gemixt sind. Die Songs schmiegen sich wie Zwillingskinder harmonisch aneinander. Jeder Titel passt wie die Faust aufs Auge zu den anderen und ein natürlicher Spannungsaufbau fesselt den Hörer wie magisch an das Set. Spontan ist und bleibt oft die beste Lösung. Upon.You Records, founded in February 2007 by DJ & producer Marco Resmann, having found great success as one half of the infamous project Luna City Express under his belt, and electronic music veteran Hawks Grunert, was already widely recognized for its first release, Phage's 'Vut & Vat EP', and started to drive on the fast lane immediately.

Originally intended to be a platform for music from an inner circle of friends as well as for aspiring young talent it didn't take long until the label branched out in 2008 with first international signings, various label tours all over the place and a first label compilation.
