The first release of the year from Hot Trax comes from the German duo Raumakustik, with Jamie Jones on remix duty. Having had recent releases on a Grain Audio, Ipoly & Mangue Records, “Raider” is their debut on the Hot Creations subsidiary.

Raumakustik deliver a high energy and rhythmic track with ‘Raider’. The industrial tech-heavy sounds are perfectly mixed with catchy drums and a calling bell. Over on the B-side, Jamie Jones delivers a darker remix to drive music lovers to the dancefloor.

Sebastian and Volker are Raumakustik. They have been creating music together for a number of years and believe in creating tracks that will not only bring listeners to the dancefloor but also stay in their memory.

Jamie Jones launched Hot Trax in 2012 after wanting to create a label that moved away from the well-known and popular sounds of Hot Creations. It has been described as a label for the “headstrong” with previous releases coming from Patrick Topping and wAFF.

"Weltschmerz: The kind of feeling experienced by someone who understands that physical reality can never satisfy the demands of the mind."

Lead track ‘Weltschmerz’ sounds like an instant Berghain classic; dark, massive, trippy, and with an emotional character all too rare within the genre. The kicks are banging, the verbed out percussion is fierce, and it all moves around a haunting melodic breakdown that artfully dances on the right side of ‘progressive.’ It’s a killer track that perfectly sets the tone for the whole record.

‘Damage Control’ is a straightforward flex-a-thon, a housier rhythm that struts along confidently. The technical term is ‘floor-filler.’ ‘Lonesome’ brings the emotion back, with it’s super-tense, unresolved melodies, this is perfect for all your mega-club yearning & gurning needs. ‘Relatives of None’ is the nastiest of the bunch, and probably the most at home on Turbo, built around a screechy synth hook. Finally, ’Weltschmerz (Melodic Theme)’ provides an epic ambient outro, crystallizing the emotional tones of the EP and establishing a sense of artistic vision that ascends well beyond the pedestrian.

Skream's edit of 'Free Falling' is a trippy, transcendent journey through haunting vocals, glistening synths and hammering percussion.

In celebration of the labels emergence within the industry, Steyoyoke has put together a special remix EP to be released on the evening of its first anniversary party. The EP is made up of five remixes from some of the industries most talented djs and producers and testifys the labels recognition since its launch. The selection of tracks shows off some of the labels most successful releases within its first year but also the diversity of sounds that it holds within its locker. 

The vinyl will be available to purchase at Steyoyoke’s birthday party on the 22nd February at Ritter Butzke.
